When I think of a franchise I think of them in the long-term view. Recently they have played the favorite(although even in this lens they still have failed to get it done), but long-term they have been an underdog. Depends on how you look at it. Kaepernick was raw coming into the NFL. He was too much of a project for most coaches. Harbaugh had no doubt he could coach him to potential.

Imagine Kaepernick being coached by the Raiders or Cardinals or Browns. Watch what Harbaugh and 49ers QB coach Geep Chryst do with Colt McCoy.

Kaepernick has a very special combination of physical and mental traits. All he needed was adept coaching that wouldn't screw him up. If he was drafted by the Raiders, he would be out of the NFL or a career backup in 3 years.

He has tremendous ceiling but he was raw coming out.

The 49ers still have 11 picks, 7 in the first 5 rounds. I can see them going straight BPA unless they trade down or out with a couple.

Meanwhile, I'm anxious to see who they pick with that #34 overall Dorsey gave them for our former QB. I just can't thank all y'all enough for that pick and for next year's 2nd rounder.

Most teams do this by signing mercenaries that become locker room cancers or try to be above the team. The 49ers don't tolerate players who aren't team oriented. Don't expect to see the 49ers impacted like some of these teams that try to buy a handful of prima-donnas, then are baffled why the whole is not as good as the sum of its parts.

Harbaugh's 49ers are better than the sum of their parts because he doesn't tolerate Diva's that aren't about the team. If they thought Asomugha would be a cancer, they wouldn't take him. Hell, he took Randy Moss and you never heard a squeak out of him. He became a choir boy.
