I could understand rescinding the permaban if Austin felt it was wrongly imposed, there was a communications issue or error, or something significant of that nature. Unless that's the case, though, I don't think letting people back from a permanent ban is a good idea. The whole idea of permanently banning someone is that it's permanent. If permanent bans aren't going to actually be permanent, eliminate them as an option for the mods and limit the bans to a year, or something like that.

You have to leave room for sleeping on it a while and going "ya know what, maybe we over-reacted. Should have been a regular ban for X months"
For a couple people, permaban really does mean permaban.
