Weather Bring on the snow - Page 2

Some of you saw my home built backhoe last year and this winter brought another need. I live on private road that is not plowed and could not afford a truck with a plow. Plus that set up does not do driveways well. So here is the solution. A 3 point blade mounted to an SUV with a winch to raise and lower it. Found a company that makes the receiver adapter that allows this to work.

I've looked into Hitch-N-Plows, even thought about just making one myself since I've got a winch on a receiver hitch already. The plow blade itself is the most expensive part.

ah, so it's not so much for clean clearing as it is reducing.

I said the same thing when I bought mine 3 years ago. It sat idle one year, but the other two have more than paid for it.

Nah, on gravel you want to leave a little snow or you'll throw all of your gravel into the yard or ditch or whatever.

Better buy some chains too. Turf tires blow ass in snow. And Deere mower hydrostats aren't good for pushing huge loads. It will work, but buy chains.

Yeah, it'll get used eventually.... I went from a ~20 foot driveway to ~130ft, so even though it's hard to justify the purchase for something that might get used once per year on average and might drop in price to $70/use after a decade, there's no way in hell I'm shoveling all of that.

yeah, i got the 4wheeler blade and one for one of the lawn tractors, but i just don't have much luck with them. might try chains.

maybe i'm doing something wrong. trying to push too much at a time.

**** it...i don't want to do it anyways.

I've got a pretty big drive too and I NEVER shoveled all of it before the snow blower. Depending how much snow we have, it still takes an hour to an hour and a half to snow blow the damn thing.

Does it have the turf tires with the nubs? This will work better. And the gator isn't a hydrostat.

I saw a snow blower attachment was available for my riding mower, but it was like $1600... it would be fun though.
