Pioli was actually pretty cap savvy; it was the one thing he did well.

Bowe's contract is what's really going to haunt us next year. Hali's is getting pretty rough as well, but I'm not interested in an extension there as I think we have him signed up for exactly as long as we should.

Berry signing an extension would clear a few million
2.8 to rollover from this year
Dunta saves us 3+ million
Chase saves us a couple million

If we needed to get 15million under, I'm sure we could.

Lots of wiggle room to get things done.

I presume you're not one of the people that is still caterwauling over losing Carr, then.

If you want the definition of bullshit, go look at the contract Carr's sporting.

Flowers has a fair contract and had he hit the open market that season he'd have likely done far better.

Don't forget about Jeremy Maclin's salary. I give it a 90% chance he's on this team next year.

With the emergence of Cooper (sans rookie troubles) and Sean Smith signed for half of Flowers cap money, I wonder if they approach Flowers about a paycut this year or next.

Didn't Flowers restructure prior to this season? Will he be willing to again?

i don't argue that he doesn't have a fair contract. But I'm arguing it's a contract that would you restructure it? The dead money makes it impossible for him to be cut. There's almost no flexibility with his, Tamba or now Bowes contract. Flowers clearly isn't playing as a 10 million CB is my argument. (I don't think Carr is either)

but if I want a 10 million CB it isn't a Flowers or a Carr. I'd give to a Revis, Haden, Sherman, etc. is my point. It's a high premium to pay for a guy that's getting beat more than ever this season. Is it position change? Has he lost a step? I don't know. But we are paying him that much to have Cooper and Smith on the outside 50 percent of game with him covering whatever is left, how is that worth that much? Is it?

I was listening to Sirius NFL the other morning and I think I heard this right, in 2014, the Raiders are projected to be like $74M under the cap - tons of room to make things right, but they're the Raiders and will screw it up.

Lol, when we dont sign anyone the gripe is that the Chiefs are cheap. When we are 3 million under the cap, its overspending and screwing up the cap.

People are dumb.

Well that means they'll sign 3 players and chew up about $60 million of that.

I just thought of something reading this, any chance Jamaal asks for a new contract soon? Among one of the things Pioli did do successfully was extend JCs contract for a very reasonable price. I know there hasn't been a mutter of it from him, but if he finishes this season the way he's been playing all year, do you think he could pull an MJD and try to renegotiate for his real worth?

Jamaal is criminally underpaid.

.. It's for the good of the team though so I'm not going to bitch.
