I think to understand the nature of the problem that exists here today it is important to reflect on how we arrived here. For those that don’t know, ChiefsPlanet was created to get around the vast restrictions placed on posters in KC Star. It was a huge success right off the bat and we were rolling. IMO those first months we ended up with a lot of really great posters and only a couple bad ones. As time went on CP has attracted more and more people who love not having restrictions and unlimited subjects to discuss which was great other than the fact that that many thought those threads were polluting the forum with people arguing all the time over subjects that didn’t even involve football. I posted a poll asking the membership if they wanted another forum for off topics and it passed by a landslide and the people who run this BB were gracious enough to create it and DC was born.

That has worked for a long time now with this almost no holds barred format. Once again this type of forum has been attractive to people who love the open debate that can take place here but unfortunately over many years it has attracted more and more trolls who like using the structure here to do nothing more than try to get under posters skin and will do anything in order to do that. It’s also allowed posters like frazod to thrive here being the poster child of bad psychology. Talk about no boundaries with a strong desire to bust in others and dump. This has attracted more in the like, can anyone say KCN? The trolls have grown as well in this forum in a kind of perfect storm way. What we have today is a forum saturated with trolls and posters with the psychology of a 13 year old psychopathic girl on her first period. IMO this is costing us many potential good posters who would make this a better place to come to and has also seen us lose many quality long term posters. To complicate matters the moderators that reside here are fine with posters posting anything they want about you and your family members short of a racist remark heaven forbid just as long as you don’t do it to them which is now creating two different cultures that exist within the planet. If they think that it is hostile now they haven’t seen anything yet should this persist.

IMO at this point nothing short of a cleansing designed to rid the planet of trolls and bloody vaginas that have no control is exactly what this place needs to regain its former greatness. There was a time when I posted a thread about a family member and their battle with cancer and asked for prayers and support. Today there is no chance of me doing something like that here as I have no desire to see somebody post the nastiest thing they can think of at that point. For the old timers it should be easy to see the huge difference in where we were and where we are now. My 2 cents.

What should we change? Legislate us to not disrespect each other? How would that be accomplished?

I have 5-6 posters that when one says something negative the others show up and put their two cents in. Now, they don't insult my mama/family/sick kid. Nothing to get them banned.

Besides those guys, I really never get into a pile on or get piled on. Pile on's happen too often around here.

In almost every case if the community would verbalize that this poster is crossing a line, needs to lighten up, take the dispute private etc. the culture would change.

I don't want to see mod's "making" people restrain themselfs.

The key is peer pressure to let people know hate filled, aggressive posts is not a good thing and to chill.

Exactly.

He's still showing his true arrogant colors. He's been a shitty example to a first time GM and HC in Detroit. Always one to take credit for things out of his job title. He thought he was the best talent evaluator, motivator, coach. Always liked to point the finger and throw others under the bus on his way out of town too

I've been a lurker and member for a long time...10 years (holy crap where has the time gone!).

I too agree that the board has gradually gotten full of people just wanting to piss other people off. It's a waste of time and bandwidth.

In my humble opinion keep this board the way it is. Leave it alone. It really is a great place for all to share.

Change one little thing. Add a forum for subscribers that pay money. Seriously that's the only way.

This will help multiple ways like, help pay for the board, allow serious people only to the paid forum (with the same rules as the free board).

Seriously, who is going to pay money to be a member of a forum just to get kicked out to the free forum? Even if someone does that at least Chiefsplanet has their money.

my suggestion would be to charge to become a member of a forum $120 a year and only paid yearly.

Then there would still be Chiefsplanet.com and a premium chiefsplanet.com for the paid subscribers that can chat in rooms that have a little more respect.

I miss teasing clay. Sneaking up on him and posting madonnas like a virgin youtube vid even after it had been annouced his cherry was indeed popped. In the pre wiki days when I didn't know what a haiku was I could still participate with my own version:

Just a guess but I'm thinking S. Korea. Just going on memory though so that could very well be wrong. I don't know him personally or if he is still active duty

That's one of the impacts that meeting people had on me: you realize that we all (including me) have a tendency to play a role online, rather than to be genuine. The more people I met, the more I tended to try to be myself on here, rather than fill a caricature.

I never put on an act or an internetz facade.I truly attempt to treat/talk to people as I would it were in person.
