I'm no expert, but so long as you're not married to a particular type of player (i.e. tall corners, or 4.3-running WRs), I like the depth at WR, OG, CB, and TEs. I think you can get talent at those positions all over this draft.

I think that, compared to previous years, there's better talent at DE later in the draft, but that's still pretty shallow. I really like the first- and second-day talent at OT, it's really strong. But falls off after that, dramatically.

So let's compare that to our needs and what position should we take in the first.

One of the biggest reasons why I endorse DE or OLB for our 1st rounder.

I find a lot of fault with that way of thinking though. I would want to draft high at the positions that are really strong this year instead of reaching on a weaker position to fill a need. Think of it this way:

Player 1 = 1st round talent at WR/TE position who can come in and will most likely contribute a lot to the team in his first year and has the potential on top of that to become a #1 WR.

Player 2 = 2nd round talent at DE/OLB who is a big project and wouldn't get any significant playing time in his first season, but he's the best left at his position and the talent level drops significantly afterwards.

I would go with Player 1 100% of the time because I don't believe in reaching at another position just because the talent level drops off significantly after that player. That's how you build a great team/roster; you draft high where the talent is deepest in order to truly get the cream of the crop instead of opting to reach on another player because his position isn't very deep in the draft.

That's fair. I just go with the player that I think will help the Chiefs the most, not necessarily in his rookie year.

DE? No way. Need more impact than that.

Which OLB?

The value is clearly at TE or WR.

You need a pass rush in the 4th quarter especially when you have Manning and Rivers in your division. Bill Walsh said so if you want to win championships and I agree

Our pass rush went to crap by mid-season whereas our offense kept getting better and better putting up more pts as the season went on with a mediocre WR corp at best to the point of scoring 38 in a playoff game that well we won't go there......

I agree let's get a serious pass rusher
