Not really scary, but I enjoyed JoyLand, and The Stand is an exquisite masterpiece.

I took an advanced Soc class in HS where we used The Stand as text / topic for the entire courses to learn A to Z about the science. Teacher was a brilliant, awesome, and unique man.
The Stand was really good. Real good TV miniseries that came of it too. Gary Sinise was terrific in it.
