People from Memphis do.
Ever watch The first 48? Its a real murder investigation show. About a third of them are in Memphis. Orange mound has cleaned up its act........a little, but your chances of getting murdered go up about 5000% by entering it. Oh, and it takes 85% of the population of Memphis forever to cross the street. |

Wow! Just WOW! I LOVE MEMPHIS!!!!
Stayed at the Westin. It was across one street from the Gibson factory. Across the other street from FedEx forum where the Grizzlies play, and around the corner was the middle of Beale Street. The window of our room was looking down on Beale. Perfect. But it got better. When we were checking in, right beside the desk was a locked glass case full of a bunch of real nice Gibsons. The sign on the wall said something about guests having one of these guitars brought up to your room. I assumed they meant you buy one and they'll deliver it to your room, and I was a few thousand dollars shy of a good time. It was free. You sign the guitars out like a library book. They give you a bag with cables, headphones and this Line6 pre-amp modeler thingy to run the headphones. During my stay, I played a blonde ES-175D, a blonde ES-335, a white Les Paul Custom, a cherry SG Standard w/Maestro Vibrato tailpiece and a cherry ES-336. I had never played a small body semi-hollow, and I absolutely loved it. The 175 was sweet. I hated to put it down. I recommend the Westin for anyone staying downtown Memphis. It looks like I found a job (most likely) down there, so there is a very painful BM in my future. Dinny |

Love the guitar factory. Got to play BB King's guitar they just finished before he ever touched it. The tour guide pointed it out so I strayed from the group and played it.
The Pink Palace was pretty cool as well. |

I'm going back down in a couple of weeks. I doubt I will ever stay at the Westin again. Personally, I can't think of a greater feature for a hotel to offer.
I will definitely tour the factory again, but after I move. Dinny |

Can't believe no one told you to eat at Gus's Fried Chicken.
Consider yourself told.
