you would have to ask them... There are many active SF forums.. and not so many (that I know of) active KC forums.
You think there are really that many SF/Alex fans that have migrated here and are still active? How many?

well, I didn't want Chiefs fans to be intolerant and rude to others that support their team... so looks like no one gets what they want.

True dat. I think Kap has a ton of potential and could be a franchise guy, but it was really interesting to watch the same arguments being made for Kap that were laughed at as "excuses" for Smith. There is a large portion of the niners fanbase that desperately need Smith to fail or their credibility as Football Geniuses would be shot to hell. They keep inching the bar higher and higher of "things he'll never be able to accomplish" hoping no one will notice he keeps proving them all wrong. For this reason, they would not want Smith back. They want him to just go away.

No... there are plenty more Smith fans than have migrated over, but I don't know what the percentage is concerning the "QB controversy". I'm sure there are more people that are happy to have Kap than Smith, but much of that has to do with what I stated in my last post. Too many years of focusing all their blame into one player. Smith did find redemption though in 2011 and 12. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets when the Chiefs come to town.

I'm a huge Eric Berry fan.
I'm on record saying that I would start rooting AGAINST the Chiefs if they trade him. Never in a million years would I EVER think of rooting FOR the team he was traded to nor would I EVER think of signing up for a message board of that team and acting like I was a fan of that team. Sorry, I just don't understand it. |

That being said, I don't know what is so hard to understand. I've been a fan of the niners for as long as many of you have been fans of the Chiefs. Became a big fan of Smith's largely due to the fact that I didn't agree that he was the niners problem as many people did. I thought the talent around him sucked, coaching sucked, etc etc. That's not to say I thought he was a HOF'er or anything... I just didn't know how good he could be because everything else sucked so bad. What I did see however was someone who gave 100% effort every snap no matter how much his line "betrayed" him, no matter how far the coaches threw him under the bus, or how loud the crowd boo'd. Still gave 100%. I became a fan. Was happy when he finally started seeing well deserved success in SF. Then he was traded to KC. I jumped on the board to see what kind of reaction fans were having to the trade and joined in the conversation as someone who'd seen every snap for the past how ever many years. I wanted to continue to see him have success so I purchased NFL game rewind to watch the games. What is hard to understand about that? I still am a fan of the niners. I just now have two games that I really care to watch instead of one. Win!

So... if the Chiefs trade Berry, you are quitting the Chiefs? That's even more extreme than my position. Since you wouldn't root for the team your favorite player was on, I assume that means you would not root FOR any team except whoever was playing the Chiefs on any given Sunday? Sounds depressing. For your sake, I hope the Chiefs retain Berry... it's supposed to be entertainment.

No... I'm not being defensive. But I do fall into the camp you are talking about. Were cool, just trying to give my reasons for being here as it does seem to rankle a few "feathers".

Not that you did this, but there are people here that basically abandoned the 49ers (or just bemoan them constantly for choosing Kap) when Alex Smith was traded. How is that any better than what I said above? In fact, how is it not WORSE? I'm choosing to abstain. They're choosing to change sides, like Benedict Arnold. |
