Maybe they just keep templates for all these stories so they can move quickly if something happens.

"Bills coach strangled in freak scarf accident"
"Bills coach kidnapped by O.J. Simpson"

If you haven't seen the classic SNL skit about this, it's one of the best SNL skits ever.
