EDIT: The more I think about it, that's exactly what they do. If the Chiefs ever go five wide (assuming no injuries) it'd be Bowe, Avery, Jenkins/Hemingway, TE/ Thomas, and Jamaal.

I am hoping that Demetrius Harris makes a big jump from last year to this year, because Fasano and McGrath are just jags.
And anyone that has seen DAT play and thinks he is the same as Dex is a f****ing clueless moron.

The improvements we made this year weren't EXACTLY THE ONES I WANTED... but they were all positive, we improved depth/talent/youth at several positions. As for the offensive conundrum that says "holy shit are you telling me we didn't do JACK at WR or TE?", a feeling to which I totally subscribed at one point... all I can say is that I agreed, until I watched this draft... we not only got rid of expensive albatross' but we replaced them with CHEAPER AND YOUNGER talent. Its been said here over and Over and OVER... but this offense was ****ing HUMMING at the end with what we already have, a bunch of guys who were just then starting to really get used to this QB/ system. It honestly doesn't really surprise me, that once Dorsey/Reid saw what this offense was able to do the last 6 weeks, that they said "hey, **** a bunch of big picks on offense, we scored 35+ down the stretch and 44 on the road in the playoffs without our prime mover... lets add starting caliber talent to this defense and depth elsewhere" Its sound thinking and I'm still impressed with this draft... the offense can be better than everyone thinks with a step forward here and a tweak there, lets add some defensive badassery and continue to grow in this, the SECOND YEAR, of a very complicated system. |

The more I think about it, that's what I think is likely to happen.
Assuming there are no injuries, then a five eligible receiver formation will feature Bowe, Avery, Jenkins OR Hemingway, a TE OR D'A. Thomas and JC. Unless Kyle Williams or Dressler prove themselves to have the makings of a top 30 WR in the league during training camp, KC really loses nothing carrying only 4 "WRs" in Bowe/Avery/Jenkins/Hemingway and four RBs with JC/KD/DAT/CG

Stahp.
KC absolutely has to carry a third nose if they only keep 4 WRs. Surely they aren't so oblivious to see that Poe was worn the **** down by season's end. Maybe Powe was a shitbag behind closed doors and that's why he was never put on the field to spell Dontari.. But Sutton et al has to realize they need a third string NT to keep Poe fresh and safeguard against any injuries or shit play from the DEs.

I tend to agree with scott free on Jenkins.
We, like the 9ers, are giving up on him too early. He is only going into his third season, and he is also only 22 years old. WRs, even ones older than him, usually take 3 years. And, frankly, if I have a team pre built, I'd rather have Harbaugh as coach. But if I am developing player talent, I don't want Harbaugh.

If we're buying into the notion that the team has done nothing this offseason but address holes on the roster that will appear in the next offseason or two, then you have to think Jenkins is around to replace Avery...

Well then stop being so cryptic.
Reid vis a vis Alex displayed trust in both Junior and AJ in the season - Hemingway more so in the early part of the season and AJ in the latter- that it doesn't seem they'd be so quick to write them off entirely. How they approached the draft reinforces this view to me, IMO. Odds are both of them are JAGs... but AJ was a first rounder and Hemingway performed similarly to Dexter in the combine. Hence why I think there's something that a lot of people don't consider when looking at the roster.. I think the FO and coaches see something in the two receivers that fans don't. Whether that's going to work out or not is up for debate, however.
