How about Mannning throwing 1 td when Houston was healthy and 5 when he was out?...even though he had 5 fewer pass attempts. 75 more yards? 3.5 more yards per attempt? 25 points higher in QB rating? Yeah, losing Hali and Houston didn't impact the defens |

Those were pretty much Denvers lowest scoring regular season games all year.

You interested in any wagers this year?
I'm interested in defense ranking and Alex Smith benchmarks. |

I get guys being optimistic about safety play, but assuming an upgrade over Lewis is a big assumption, IMO. Abdullah was around last year and didn't make Lewis' playing time disappear. Commings is a complete unknown converting to a new position.
Hope you guys are right. Can't believe more aren't worried about the number of unproven starting spots... think talk about depth being good is very premature. Let's see how the starting lineups look before we start thinking about how good the depth is.

Alex is very smart and a master of the short passing game, which Andy thrives on. He flawlessly picks up systems and knows the playbook inside and out. He is not a complete QB and he lacks the pure killer instinct and the ability to take the appropriate risk at the appropriate time. He is afraid to throw to receivers unless they have complete separation and no interception is possible.
Alex is a solid middle-tier QB like Cutler and Romo and worth a solid $12 million per year. He was a great pickup for the Chiefs except that they paid too much for a guy the 49ers would have cut anyway. He won't get $18 million per year, but you are dreaming to think the Chiefs expect to sign him for $10 million or less. Not gonna happen. |

Lol I'm hopeful man don't get me wrong. I just think we have a lot of holes and questions that real contenders don't. Anything more than 7 wins it'll be a success. I'd like to beat some good teams for once in what seems like forever.

If I were Alex, I'd ask a lot of money to see if they're crazy enough to do it. Or hopefully maybe be unreasonably high to not make a deal happen. Quite frankly, going against the defenses of the NFC West with the Chiefs kiddie OL scares me. Alex might be on his back a lot or just running for his life more than ever with Justin Smith and a liquored up Aldon Smith gunnin for him.
He'll then pray to not get franchise tagged and move on to a more complete team who is ready to compete. |
