Well, that was my thought also. But last night I saw a figure where next years Franchise # for QB's could be $22M.

What qbs are winning anything by themselves?
Otwp is right. There's a double standard here that's unbearable. "Romo isn't winning them shit". Well, no shit. That's a terrible team around him. Yet when someone makes the claim that our beloved qb loses, it's always "he needs more help, more around him". |

In 2011, 9-7 won the NFC East division, Romo took his team to a 3rd place finish. Phenomenal. $100+ Mil top 5 guy. I expect at least a Superbowl appearance for that kind of dough. Romo hasn't even proven himself capable of getting past the divisional round and now he's even older with a lesser team around him. Dallas has absolutely no chance of winning a title with Romo at QB. Hell, they're not even going to have a shot at winning their division. To make matters worse, Romo isn't any where good enough to off-set that now crappy defense like Rodgers is capable of doing in GB. The Cowboys won't be seeing even a Wildcard spot coming their way any time soon. Fantasy football has distorted the perception of a lot of fans, lol. |

A great supporting cast most of the time? Jesus Christ. That teams been terrible in terms of depth and talent for a while. The fact that they've been competitive at all speaks to what Romo has done there. |

"Alex Smith can only win if he has a good team around him." "Alex Smith can only get you as far as the talent around him." "Alex Smith is just a game manager. He can't win without a good team." And yet here you and many other people go, declaring other QBs in the league as "great franchise level players worthy of $100 mil contracts", despite never winning anything. Your excuse for them? "Well they don't have a good team around them. But they're still great QBs because they carry the team." Carry them to what? 8-8 records? I'd understand if you made that argument for Aaron Rodgers because, in his case, it's actually true (although he does have a ton of offensive help when everyone is healthy on that team, I think that this previous season just adds to his resume when you consider what he did with a lot of injuries to his WR core). |

In 2011 he threw for over 4000 yards, 31 tds and 10 ints and leading a top 10 passing game.
But it's on him that they didn't win 10 games. |

This isn't that hard. They've shown that they can be successful without either elite units around them. You keep wanting to use wins and losses to justify or dispel qb play. It's crap. |

If Luck and Wilson get contracts like that next off season it is going to make the franchise tag $ amount go up significantly as well. That would probably get the tag # over 20 mil for Alex. Signing him to an 18 mil a year average contract is going to barely put him in the top 15. Brady sure is a hell of a steal for his 11.4 million APY.

It's why I don't really get into or care much about getting into debates around here over them. They can be structured so that hey don't hurt the team. |
