Jenkins to IR, Avant signed, offense should be better.

Im pretty happy about this. Jenkins offered nothing aside from a would-be big play that ended with him surrendering a sure TD by running out of bounds of his own volition.

Avant knows the offense, and moreover, is pretty damned sure handed. Id really like to see what the details of his signing are, but I have to believe that this just made the offense better. Hell, he cant be any worse than AJ Jenkins at worst.

It would be great to have another receiver out on the field that could compliment Bowe, and perhaps even take some of the attention off of him. He should fit right into this offense and hopefully be able to contribute against the Broncos.

If anything it will be refreshing to see a WR that actually catches passes that Alex puts right on him.

Atleast they're being proactive at this point, since Avant knows the system its not too late for him to step in and make a difference.
This.

Hope to see more of Wilson.

Wilson has had a few nice moments, but considering his speed I was kinda hoping for more explosive plays.

But he's one of those young guys that'll be back next year in some capacity I'm sure.

Im pretty much agre with you and think that is a fair reponse. Im pretty sure we could sign Megatron and Old Ass would take a dump on him though.

I've been making this point for years on WRs and dropped passes. I was far more militant about this stuff when Pioli refused to give Bowe a contract in the 2012 offseason.

I've been getting pissed off in this thread because I'm sick of people oversimplifying the argument at hand because they're too stupid to understand what I'm saying. And it's most of the time it's just lazy-ass shit like, "SNR thinks Avant isn't better than Hemingway!" just because I haven't announced him as the Lord and Savior of the 2014 Chiefs offense.

I'm done now, though. I'm through with spoon-feeding shit to people.

Dude there isnt one person thinking Avant is going to come in here and be some kind of killer threat, or start in with mythmaking nicknames... but in my estimation he will catch those 8 yard passes on 3rd and 7 that others routinely drop and being experienced in the system he can probably be counted on to run the correct route more often than not.

With the drops, we'll just have to disagree to an extent... and its not just drops, its when those drops happen with some of these guys. We've had an assload of 3rd down drops this year, thats gotta stop and hopefully this guy can help with that.

He's got better hands than Hemingway, so in that respect, he's an upgrade.

That said, I can't even figure out why Hemingway is ever on the field as a receiver. As much as people slam on Bowe around here, Hemingway is a 1,000 times worse.

Hemingway has had two 3rd down drops all year. Jenkins has caught everything his way on 3rd down, and Hammond is a piece of shit that I don't care about.

Hemingway's 3rd down drop in the San Diego game was lethally bad, since it pretty much led directly to more points for the Chargers before halftime, but we won anyway. His drop in the San Francisco game was less circumstantial, but we lost that game in a close battle.

In any case, we HAVE WRs that have made 3rd down catches. They don't "routinely" drop them-- it happened in two games, and in the game that we lost, the drop wasn't even close to being a single nail in our coffin.

Normally I'd end my post right there, but since Wallcrawler is a tool, let me say that I DON'T believe Hemingway, Hammond, and (formerly) Jenkins are good players. They absolutely need to be upgraded next year, probably with draft picks.

Just because Avant has better hands doesn't mean he'll even get targeted on those 3rd downs, though. And even if he gets targeted, his lack of speed and inefficiency with Chip Kelly and in Carolina's systems has me concerned that he won't get proper spacing in traffic. That being said, Andy Reid is 500 times the coach that Ron Rivera is, this is a familiar system, and the Chiefs have a good history with bringing aboard dejected veteran WRs from other teams and having them play with extra motivation and purpose in their new environment. I don't doubt that he can improve the offense, I'm just not looking at this like a slam dunk acquisition until I see it happen.

I'm hoping a vet presence like avant may help some guys like Wilson come along a little bit. Bowe just doesn't seem like a leader and teacher of young guys like it seems jamaal is. (Points to name on back)

Meh, I dont care if he's a great mentor, just catch the ball when its thrown his way... you're not one of those guys angry at Bowe's "showboating" are you?

He has his problems, but that isnt one of them IMO.

Do the Chiefs not have a WR coach? That was short-sighted of them.
