Don't cook corn on the cob directly on the grill.
Shuck the corn, spread softened butter on the corn, season with salt and pepper, wrap in foil and then grill it. |

Marinate a tougher cut of steak (flank/skirt) in Italian dressing in a gallon bag for 3-5 hours. Cross cut with a knife about every 1/4 inch about an 1/8 inch deep on both sides before you put it in. The acid in the dressing will make any steak's texture like filet mignon by breaking down the protein.

Soak your corn in the husk in water for 4-6 hours, then grill in the husk. Apply butter/salt/pepper after cooking. If you really want to cook in butter, peel back the husk, apply butter, and cover it back up with the husk.
