I'll Take Todd Haley for a hundred, Alex

Ok, I realize that most of you are not going to like this observation, but I'm going to make it anyway: We'd have been better off keeping Todd Haley as our coach than hiring Andy Reid. Yeah, I said it.

This whole franchise lacks.......balls. And not the over/under-inflated kind either. Haley was obviously learning on the job as to how to be a head coach, so he clearly made some mistakes. However, he knew that given the talent that Scooter had provided, the ONLY way for him to be competitive was to roll the dice and take some chances. Clearly, some of said chances were real boners, but the guy had cojones.

Plus, Haley had zero support from his boss who handcuffed him Mr Cassel, and didn't he have Tyler Palko as his backup QB? Those guys weren't pro-caliber QBs, heck they weren't much more than answers to trivia questions.

Haley also wasn't going to put up with pussy-footed players.....period. See DJ and Bowe about that.

Instead we now have Andy Reid who selected Alex "The Accountant" Smith as his "dynamic" QB. BTW, did you hear Smith after the game? Calmly assessed it as "only one game" and "there's a lot of football left" bullshit. And of course Reid took responsibility for the game, but Lord have mercy, what in the world does THAT mean? Is he gonna put himself in timeout?

I wanna see someone with some PASSION. Not some cool, calculating football "genius" who constantly outthinks himself. I wanted to hear "Totally and Completely Unacceptable", not this mealy-mouthed "My Responsibility" crap.

Anyway, like him or not, I claim we'd be MUCH further down the road to the Super Bowl with Todd Friggin' Haley as coach than we are with the ultra-conservative, don't push the ball down the field, Andy Reid. I can sure as hell guarantee you that Haley's choice for a QB wouldn't be some wanna-be accountant type. He'd have some gunslinger out there who shows some friggin' PASSION.

Frankly, I'm tired of all of the conservative mindlessness within this friggin' organization. Next thing you know, we're gonna change our colors to an electric beige.

Gimme a friggin' break....

I don't know how anyone here can acknowledge that pioli was batshit crazy and maniacal, yet can't understand that maybe Haley was undermined by piolis stupid. Most areas where Haley threw a shit fir, he was right. Demanded a new QB, threw a fit when they drafted Tyson Jackson, hated the 2 gap 3-4, hated being forced into the Parcells offense.
This is one of the most ludicrous things I've read on the CP in a long time. This guy started Tyler Palko, for God's sake.

And how was that his fault??

He wanted Hasselbeck as starter and Cassel as backup.

Pioli saddled him with Palko as a "**** you, you're playing Matt Cassel'...

Haley goes, "well...let's see what I got under the hood, let's kick the tires on this thing."

Can't be mad at him in that scenario.

Scott Pioli was the controlling boss. The chiefs walked into the season with Palko and stanzi as backups. You think that was Haleys call? Haley asked for qbs. Twice. And he never got either of them.

Hasselback has been tearing it up! And you think Palko came from the Patriot tree? Or maybe... Just maybe Haley picked him. Spent time with him in Arizona. And went to Pitt.. Hmmmmm

The point is that Haley was actively lobbying for qbs not named cassel. It's well documented. Haley pleaded for kaepernick. Haley may have brought Palko in, but it was unbelievably clear that pioli refused to bring a QB in who had a chance to compete with cassel. Keep in mind the qbs pioli brought in to compete were stanzi, a late round pick. And two garbage Parcells guys... Brady Quinn and guttierez.

And Hasselbeck would have been just fine as a one to two year stopgap. He would have been a million times better than the piles of shit we kept starting.

George, didn't Pioli stack the deck against him? Palko was what Scooter gave him. Not like Haley had much to choose from. Plus, by that time wasn't Haley effectively giving Pioli the ol' 1 finger salute? Haley had some fire in him and was learning how to be a head coach when Pioli threatened to fire him if he didn't win an early season game (something like second game of Haley's last season?). Haley never had a chance.

I think it was Gretz who said everyone knew pioli and hunt micromanaged Haley and he believed pioli was purposefully not giving Haley what he thought he needed.

I would definitely take Haley as Reids playcaller... he likes the idea of being a passing guru, but also knows when to feed your top shelf running back.

Reid is quite simply too in love with his own passing schemes, he's like a SLIGHTLY less reckless Mike Martz... the guy isn't playing to this teams strengths, he would rather pass it with a still shaky cast of characters than pound his kennel full of woofing dogs.

JC was averaging 7 some ypc at one point.

Knile gashed them with a well executed play.

After that, mix in some PA then throw in some C. West and watch their defense unravel... but NOOOOOO, Andy wants to show off his big ideas instead of showcasing his teams best talents.

I think Palko was Haley's guy. He never got anywhere close to the field but he had a brief stint with Arizona, and Haley kept playing him despite having other options. I think Pioli's guy was Orton... who I think never wanted to be in KC or re-sign here, but there's no universe where Palko should be starting games over him. Haley was just flipping Pioli a giant middle finger.
