NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports new 49ers coach Chip Kelly is excited to work with Colin Kaepernick.
Per Rapsheet, Kelly was "trying to figure out how to trade for/sign" Kaepernick as he "plotted potential moves and his next NFL stop." It would suggest Kap has a major leg up on Blaine Gabbert in their looming quarterback battle. Kelly operated largely without dual-threat quarterbacks in Philadelphia, but all of his college success came with QBs who could also run. Kap has rare running ability for a signal caller. His career could be in for a major revival under Kelly. |

I thought Gabbert looked pretty good having to carry the 49ers offense by himself with no TEs, no RBs and crappy WRs to go with an inept coach. I think Gabbert turned his career around he looked good running and throwing, like a younger Alex Smith

There's one thing to this that I hadn't considered. Chip Kelly got blindsided. He didn't see this last season coming like this, and he didn't see himself getting fired. He got knocked on his ass. That has a way of doing something to a man. He may be the perfect guy for this job. He knows he ain't getting personnel control again anytime soon if ever. Hmm...

Kelly was 10-6 his first two seasons with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez. That's incredible. He made a bunch of personnel changes that didn't work out this year and went 6-10 for an overall record of 26-22. He also won a division title. Kelly knows he's not getting personnel control and like Andy Reid, he's better off focusing on the coaching aspect. Furthermore, the 49ers lost like eight starters from 2014 along with their head coach and their starting QB has had some major surgery this year, so I wouldn't count them out, at all. A new stadium, luxury boxes and hosting a Super Bowl all equal more cash flow, which translates to more revenue for guaranteed money in free agency. I won't be surprised at all if the 49ers are fighting for a playoff berth next year, especially considering Carson Palmer's age and injury history. |

Nobody figured the offense out. They just caught up to the personnel because Chip is a horrible pro evaluator. I think he knows that now, and if not, he's at least humbled himself to accept his fate. I think he has something to prove, and given an opportunity, will. Pest nailed it though in ownership, and I'm convinced Baalke is a ****ing moron.
