John Dorsey pre-draft press conference

Tidbits so far:

-180 players exactly on his draft board
-Clark's statement about the tampering appeal will say it all (he sounded pissed off when he said it).

You all have big dreams for the 28th pick. I just want a guy who can give us 5-6 quality years.

What?

If a guy gives you 5 quality years, why should/would it stop there all of the sudden?

Billay, whats up.

I tend to agree with billay here. I'd love to have a real gamechanging type player at 28, but in reality a good solid contributor will do.

Morse didn't make the Chiefs second round exciting, but we are glad to have him.

Yes I think the Kyle Brady pick really solidified years ago that future GM's will no longer be making draft picks and that the fan base will now call the shots.

And to your point, the fan base was screaming for Sanchez(bust) they were screaming for Geno in the first but got him in the 2nd(bust). That's the downside of being a GM in a huge fishbowl obnoxious fanbase market. The fanbase knows more than the GM

I think the Jets are just truly terrible at developing a young QB. Brian Schottenheimer wasn't the right OC for Sanchez and they had no idea how to get Smith out of his funk, once he got into that mode.

I think there's some truth to that, but I also think that Sanchez ever really committed to the work.

Yeah, it was likely a combination of both. To be fair, I'd maybe stop giving a **** if I knew my playcaller would have my receivers run 7 yard curl routes on 3rd&10.

There's also truth to the fact that most college QB's fail to make the transition to the NFL due to talent.

Sanchez may not have lived up to his #3 overall billing but he was two quarters away from a Super Bowl and took his team back to the AFC Championship following year.

He's not crap and he's not great, which pretty sums up the story for 95% of the guys that play in the NFL.

Sanchez is still young and has a career ahead of him. It won't be shocking if he finishes with a Super Bowl win, nor would I be shocked if he's a backup for the next 10 years.

Sanchez turning into a star with the Donks would be the Chiefs luck.

Sanchez benefited a lot from having an excellent running game, a top tier Defense and one of the best Special Teams in the NFL.

He was serviceable when his job was to not **** up too badly. I think Denver is still a good squad, but this years team doesn't have the talent that the Jets had 6 years ago.

I think he's decent if you need somebody in a quick pinch and nothing beyond that.

One of the best Special Teams coaches, pretty damn good OLine and rushing attack, stout front 7, insanely good system and the best CB playing at his absolute peak.

The question is, does the cost of trading up for Ramsey outweigh the benefit of picking up an extra player?

Because trading up vs down can be a four to five player swing.

The Chiefs didn't trade down with the intent to choose Justin Houston.

It was complete and utter luck that he was available AND that he became a pass rushing force, when healthy, in the regular season.

The fact still remains: Trading up yields better talent.

Trading down is a bigger crapshoot than staying.
