I don't disagree, but that's what he still is.

Cobb's trajectory is exactly the one Miller is following. QB convert, development needed, Cobb spent most of his first year as a kick returner in the NFL and was brought along. Only difference is Cobb had an extra year of WR in college.

But it's really the same thing. Some times gadget players hit (Cobb) and most of the time they miss (McCluster and friends)

So you take a chance on those guys in the 4th or below (unless you have multiple high picks.)

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

when you have a depth chart where most of the starters are already penciled in I think you can afford to reach for a luxury like that.

I'm not going to be snake bitten because Fat Scott grabbing them in the 2nd round when he had no idea how to build the back end of the roster burned us.

I mean what could we grab in the 2nd today that could come in and be a Day 1 starter besides offensive guard or corner? Any other spots open? Maybe WR if you don't like what we have opposite Maclin? ILBer if you are anti Mauga and the 40 other UDFA/late round ILBers we have. But every other position is penciled in, so really we might be drafting a back up no matter how you slice it.

That's pretty much what I meant - you just stated it better.

We could fill a huge need at G, ILB, C, or Safety.

All could start day 1...

Don't see where a C would start Morse has done a good job.
