Our starting field position in the Pitt game was atrocious because our defense couldn't force punts which would have put the ball into the hands of our dynamic punt returner

1) 45 yard line -> touchdown
2) 12 yard line -> punt
3) 25 yard line -> INT
4) 20 yard line -> punt
5) 16 yard line -> fumble
6) 24 yard line -> punt
7) 21 yard line -> punt
8) 46 yard line -> FG
9) 25 yard -> TD

we would have still won the game if the QB would have just thrown it to the same dynamic player you are talking about.

the odds of that being a TD are MUCH GREATER than him returning a kick for a TD.

and what is the average starting field position in an NFL game, those look pretty normal to me...

Andy should have ran Ware more in that game. 4.4 YPC and only 8 carries? His first 3 carries were for 13 yards.

We lost bc we put the game in Alex's hands. The Ware missed throw was horrific, the Kelce "drop" was horribly placed below his waist making it harder to catch, and we all know the Tyreek Hill miss was the straw that broke the camels back.

Alex won't carry teams. He loses to real teams bc he can't make plays happen to win.
Run Ware and Hunt and lower Alex's attempts this year.

blaming the placement of that Kelce drop is just shameful... and frankly, discredits any other opinion you ever have on this.

I wonder how the perception changes if Bowe taps that second foot in... or the ref doesn't flag Fisher..

Or if Alex simply hits a wide open Tyreek Hill for a TD in a clean pocket..

Look, I get that. It was a huge, missed opportunity. He has to own that. That's one missed opportunity, and all QBs miss something glaring to us after the fact. It sucks.. but it doesn't change the reality of the rest.

And Smith admitted he missed it. But as Reid and Smith both said, that play didn't have Tyreek in the progressions. Odd, but it's true. Look at the play where he hits Tyreek for the game tying TD against Denver, you literally have Harris out wide making zero movement because he is a non-factor. Tyreek saw an opportunity in that Pitt game and ran down the field but Smith was flushed out to the right with no intention to even make a play across his body (again, which QBs are crazy enough to throw across their body even with a big arm). Those opportunities/mishaps are few and far between... why people fixate on it like it was the game deciding mistake can only be explained by ignorance.

Not like this. It was clearly something Andy went over with Alex when he was discussing that interview.

It was a play that made Andy (finally!) realize that he was capped and lead to Patrick Mahomes.

You are welcomed to draw that conclusion, but it's a pure, wishful guess on your part.

My stance is that Smith made it clear to Andy that he was not going to be playing for much longer.. so this knowledge made it all the more clear that getting a QBotF needed to be a higher priority than perhaps first anticipated.

To me, it looks like Hill was the deep decoy, and Smith never really looked at him... started to move away from a pass altogether just as we see Hill breaking wide open.

I can't imagine a scenario where Smith sees Hill wide open, and just elects to not hit him.. on a throw that most of us could reasonably make. No, it's far more likely that Hill was just a decoy, and never really looked at in that split second of decision.

It's water under the bridge now, and Mahomes will be the future soon enough. That will be what is best for Smith, and hopefully, for KC too.

Wasn't it posted here that Mahomes was being scouted by about October?

Except when Alex put the team on his back against Indy and New England both games where he didn't have his #1 RB (Charles and Ware) ...but of course blame is to never be placed all-around. Just the QB.

Your logic is severely flawed and utterly stupid.

Yeah I didn't understand not running Ware more as well. If there is one knock against Reid it's he gets too pass-happy at times. Still a great HC but I wish he would run more.
