Three shutouts today, another team only scored three, and the Falcons are still scoreless. People who wanted defense back got low scores, but I don't know if they got it via great defense.

There’s no consistency among teams and with guys like Aaron Rodgers out for at least 7 more weeks, it’ll likely be more of the same. Teams are “On” for one week and “Off” the next. In the end, it’ll be the Patriots and Steelers in the AFC. Same as it ever was. |

When the refs have that much power over the outcome of a game, I no longer believe that the Chiefs have a real shot at winning anything significant. |

What were you most upset about in Thursday's game?

Chicago had the ball for 21 minutes and trubisky was sacked on like half his attempts.

For one, the Amari Cooper push off of Terrance Mitchell in which a flag was thrown, then picked up and called a TD.
It was the most blatant OPI I’ve ever seen and set the tone for the game, in which the Raiders mugged the Chiefs receivers all night. |

RainMan, I believe the Chiefs played Oakland ages ago when they used a full house backfield and ran the 3 times the whole game (at least that's how this old geezer remembers it). I believe our injuries were many, so we just relied on our OL and RBs. Anyone else remember this one?

That one annoyed me too. The Eric Murray one was the one that really bothered me.

In the Carolina game, I know at one point in the 3rd quarter the TOP was insanely in favor of Carolina. |

Okay, I looked it up. Since the major passing rule changes of 1977, there have been 11 times where one team had 7 or fewer passing attempts (counting today). However, this was only the third time it's happened since 1983, with the last instance being a Chris Weinke Carolina win over the Falcons in 2006.
Three of the 11 games featured the Bears as the non-passing team, oddly enough. Interestingly the teams with the small number of attempts are 10-1 in those 11 games, with the only loss occurring in overtime. They've all been low-scoring affairs, with the winning score being a median of 14 points and the losing score being a median of 3 points. Essentially, they were all cases where the non-passing team's defense was completely shutting down the opponent.

Made worse by the fact that I saw more OPI called today than I've ever seen before. The league office knew the officials ****ed up the Chiefs game and made it a point to be aggressive on that call today.

The Chiefs have only had three games in their history with 10 or fewer pass attempts.
In 1968, Len Dawson went 2 of 3 for 16 yards as the Chiefs protected a 24-0 lead against the Raiders, winning 24-10. The Chiefs ran the ball 58 times, with three running backs getting 89 or more yards. In 1969, the Chiefs intentionally dogged the last game of the season against the Raiders. I think Lenny was hurting in that game or something, and they knew they'd play the Raiders again in the playoffs. Lenny went 2 of 6 for 47 yards, with both passes going to his fullback. The Chiefs lost 10-6. They ran the ball 48 times. In 1978, Mike Livingston went 7 of 10 for 89 yards and 1 interception as the Chiefs lost to the Broncos in overtime, 23-17. The Chiefs ran the ball 41 times and blew a fourth-quarter lead. The Chiefs have had five opponents with less than 10 attempts against them, and the opponents won all five games. 1971 - NYJ won 13-10 1973 - LA Rams won 23-13 1974 - OAK won 7-6 1988 - SD won 24-13 2011 - DEN won 17-10. (Yes, it was Tebow. I think it was also the first appearance of Tyler Palko.)
