**** an a. Tell me one reason why any black player would pick the Chiefs over another team. Our only hope is that Mahomes is so spectacular that our winning supersedes all. But I wouldn't count on any free agents coming to KC.

Not really. When you consider that this is not the same league as the one we grew up with, it makes much more sense.

Winning cures all ills. Imagine how many "black players" were waiting in line to go to sunny Boston in 1999?

Not if Reid and Peters were on good terms...then there is no logical explanation for zero interest.

Something is bogus...and I'm sticking with the LA only theory.

"Building LA" is it?

Good luck with that, NFL. Seriously, that whole thing is gonna' flop. The Rams have been gone far too long and NO ONE gives a **** about the Chargers. I hope they sink every shitty penny they have in to that glorified trash-heap. The collapse will be spectacular.

Half of them need to be replaced. We got poor performance from at least half the defense.

I agree with you on that front...but the NFL will die trying to make them a success. You thought 3 free plays against the Raiders was horseshit...wait until the Mexico game.

Meh. It's dirty Mexico, filled with dirty Mexicans; I would expect no less!

Not really. The limited interest was Peters refusal to sign a extension with any teams other than those in Cali. The Browns and Colts had interest initially, but withdrew once they were told he had no desire to go there and if they did trade for him he would not resign. So considering ALL the risks involved its easy to see why there was a lack of interest. The Raiders and Chargers were automatically eliminated as possibilities which left the Rams and 49ers. The Chiefs tried to grant his wishes and deal with a team that he agreed to play for and if everything goes well, resign with.

This has a grain of truth. At the same time it illustrates why you can't decide whether you will make a trade until you know what the offer is. We gave Peters away at essentially what we would have got in FA compensation. Clark is still a neophyte in this league.

Again, this is pure speculation.

If Peters didn’t have any altercations with fans, players or the coaching staff in 2018, the Chiefs would likely receive a 3rd Comp Pick in 2019.

Furthermore, Peters would be allowed to choose his team.

How would you feel if Peters was a Raider, Charger or Bronco for years on end?

From a pure football perspective, I am absolutely not a fan of this trade. But my better judgment says that if the Chiefs had no intention of picking up his 5th year option and no intention of signing him to a long term extension, at least they were able to choose his destination, which is out of the AFC and AFC West in particular.

They’re also receiving far better compensation than a late 3rd round 2019 draft choice and at minimum, 33 slots ahead of a 3rd round Comp pick, which are usually between 97-106, along with a 4th this year.

It’s a damn shame that the Chiefs felt they needed to part with Marcus Peters but in the end, it could have been a lot worse.

If we got a a 3rd round 2019 pick through FA, at least he played for us in 2018. plus we have an option for 2019. We sold him at the bottom of the market.
