I think he'll take a discount, but only in that it's not going to be as high as some of these bizarre projections.

He will become the highest paid QB and set a new record for guaranteed money, but on a per year basis? People are throwing out numbers like $45-50 million per year.

That's a little ridiculous. If he cracks $40, that will be a complete re-set of the QB market. I think he'll take that and be done.

Wilson is already @ $35M... and Pat is 7 years younger, so yeah I think he'll get into the $45M range. Hell, at his age - he's looking at 2 mega contracts if he stays healthy.

KC should just rewrite the book on this and lock him up long-term.

He's going to demand $10 million more AAV than the next best QB?

Raising that by $5 million is still re-setting the top of the market in a big way. That will be his discount to the team, I'd wager.

I think the way KC can do this that’s best for both sides is to offer most of his salary guaranteed. This should allow for a smaller “team friendly” contract while providing him financial security.
