Raiders' Henry Ruggs in fatal accident - will be charged with DUI resulting in death

Update: Not a rumor, actually happened. Story developing.

Per TMZ: 10:27 AM PT -- A source close to Ruggs tells us the NFL'er is expected to be OK. The condition of the other people involved in the crash is still unclear.

10:40 AM PT -- A law enforcement source tells us at least one person involved in the crash has died. Ruggs' attorney, David Chesnoff, tells TMZ Sports, "On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered."

You sound like a ****ing politician. How about we don't force the vast majority of people who don't drink and drive to have to blow in a tube before they drive. Maybe if we made the consequences of a DUI harsher it wouldn't happen as much. How many people do you know that have multiple DUIs? I know too many. They get a slap on the wrist and do it again.

Eh, not many people shrug off the punishments for DUIs (they have gotten pretty severe), and on top of that know it can be dangerous to themselves and others. Its not as simple as "throw them in jail for life or bankrupt them and that will end all DUIs". Murder still happens and that can get you strapped to the electric chair.

145MPH felt like about 90MPH in that car, no joke. Incredibly fast and incredibly easy to get there.

I've got an old 1965 Chevy II with all upgraded suspension etc...that I have had up to 130MPH and it felt like it was going 2x the speed of that Vette at 145.

Not in any way defending Ruggs just pointing out its insane how fast and smooth those cars are and I'm assuming the 2021 is the best yet when it comes to handling.

(I sound a bit like BRC here I know)
That's funny, i've driven a C6 Z06 too. That car has a couple of electronic suspension "sports modes".

You can deactivate all that shit at the push of a button.

When you do, holy **** does it change how they drive. It gets real scary real fast. I got the back tire into some dirt and my heart skipped thinking i was bout to lose it.

The difference between new cars and old cars is huge due to all the electronics that help drive the car for you.

It's something i have to explain to customers all the time.

A 5.2 Coyote in a '70 Mustang is not even close to the same experience as it is in a '20 Mustang.

The thing about driving fast is, and i tell my son this all the time, you don't know how close to out of control you are until you finally lose control.

Until you've lost control of that car at high speeds, (hell even low speeds) then you really don't understand where that thresh hold is.

I learned the hard way. Lucky for me the only thing that got hurt was my car....and the brick planter box i put it into.

Think my great grandfather had a '20 Mustang. Of course, back then it didn't really make sense to measure things in horsepower.

Exactly. It's a hard sensation to describe. I referred to it as 'dancing' because you just started to get this really slight drift baaaack and foooorth.

Just a slow sway and you realize "Ya'know what? I probably don't have much say in what this vehicle does from this point forward..."

I've had a Twin Turbo Stealth up to 156mph a couple more up to 120 or so and a few Vipers up to 120-140. Every one of them was smooth as hell. Every time was on a 4 lane divided hyw with little traffic at the time and I always made sure I didn't have to pass anyone. It didn't take much room to get going that fast.
There's a time and place where you can drive a car that fast and inside a city, let alone a neighborhood, isn't it. I used to crave that adrenalin rush, even after I was no longer a young man. Building and racing my own car on the local tracks took care if the craving. Saved me a lot of problems and money in the long run.

I drive a '15 Hybrid Camry XLE, and even that thing will glide at 90mph. It handles so well, and is so smooth, you just don't realize how fast you're going.

I'd assume his Corvette is some sort of upgrade from my Camry...

Did you know.....that they make electronic variable ride control coil overs for the classic Camaros?

You can set different parameters for sportier and softer rides via bluetooth on your phone....
