Trade Deadline

With their now being that extra WC spot and everyone being bunched up, there's gonna be alot of executives deluding themselves into thinking they have a shot.

Even with that said, I've never understood why more teams don't sell. Take the Raiders for instance and Josh Jacobs. He's clearly going elsewhere this offseason, so they probably think they could get a 3rd round comp pick. If the Saints beat them this weekend, why wouldn't you try to move him?

The Saints should trade anything that's not bolted down at this point, but I digress.

I know teams don't like to shit on their fanbase and sell because of tickets and blah blah blah.

Why dont' more teams sell though?

We don't need a 'solution'.

The solution is Patrick Mahomes.

The wall is pretty much built - we just needed a couple of bricks.

Guess we're just gonna try to slam some extra mortar in there and call it a day...

The long term look at DE is still there, so they'll have to address it via FA or the draft now.

Moving forward.

Depends on where you are in the competitive cycle.

Let's say you're the Ravens and you still have hopes for Dobbins long-term. You also have a team who could really use a physical RB to help take some pressure of Lamar Jackson. And you just pushed in a bit to make the move for Roquan Smith.

Why wouldn't you make that move?

"Build for the long term"

Guys get fired after 2-3 years. There is no long term, but you guys were right here and I'm wrong.

Moving on, won't hear any trade stuff from me.

The Chiefs are better positioned than any other AFC team after this year.

Solid point. The teams that were reportedly interested believed they were in that cycle.

D'Ernest Johnson has actually done really well in limited action. I'm not sure he's a star but it's funny because the Browns already have two #1 RBs and a third guy who literally never plays but has gotten 3-4 chances the last few years and almost every single time he's called on has a great game.

Where's the extra mortar though? Shame Hughes wasn't available, but to be honest after that ship sailed I'm not sure what I'd have wanted or what was realistic.

I find it hard to believe they like this DL and pass rush. I assume they didn't want another long term duffer at DE and just no-one else emerged as remotely viable.

Does make you wonder. My instinct is to prefer a slight shift to longer term planning. But in a year or 2 it'll be interesting to see whether the analysis is actually that you need to go all in, burn down and rebuild and go again.

We didn't need Josh Allen (though he would've been nice). We needed a twitchy edge and a rotational interior rusher.

I just don't see why a Green or Key deal and a deal for someone like Chaisson and/or Ngakoue wasn't done.

There were guys out there. There weren't 'dudes' out there, but there was help and we need it.

I really hope this isn't the Frank Clark Blind Spot striking again. Guy played his first good game in 2 years right before the trade deadline...
I’d been good with a 4th-6th rounder for some vet rotational DL depth
