Trade Deadline

With their now being that extra WC spot and everyone being bunched up, there's gonna be alot of executives deluding themselves into thinking they have a shot.

Even with that said, I've never understood why more teams don't sell. Take the Raiders for instance and Josh Jacobs. He's clearly going elsewhere this offseason, so they probably think they could get a 3rd round comp pick. If the Saints beat them this weekend, why wouldn't you try to move him?

The Saints should trade anything that's not bolted down at this point, but I digress.

I know teams don't like to shit on their fanbase and sell because of tickets and blah blah blah.

Why dont' more teams sell though?

Maybe, but Mahomes being in his prime which he is now is something that should be fully maximized.

I find it hard to believe they like this DL and pass rush. I assume they didn't want another long term duffer at DE and just no-one else emerged as remotely viable.

Does make you wonder. My instinct is to prefer a slight shift to longer term planning. But in a year or 2 it'll be interesting to see whether the analysis is actually that you need to go all in, burn down and rebuild and go again.
Veach went for bigger swings than brokedick rotation scrubs on the DL. He struck out. Bound to happen sometimes.

Precisely because they don’t mortgage the future for a short term win.

Probably, though Buffalo is still in nice shape for the next couple of seasons. And if/when the Chargers fire Staley and get someone that can run an offense in there (and maybe a new training staff), they're still awfully flexible.

Miami is kinda crazy to me. For as well as they've drafted and for all the savvy moves they've made, they still have some REALLY difficult contracts to deal with next season. Not sure how they can retain Chubb at this point but there's probably something they can get done there.

The Jets depend almost entirely on Wilson not doing that dumb shit he did last week. Man he's gotta drive Jets fans insane. He's Jay Cutler - one week he'll look smart, in control and damn effective. The next week he's whipping back-foot interceptions into double coverage while falling out of bounds.

Not sure there's really anyone else worth worrying about out of the AFC though. The AFC South is low grade dog food. The North has the Bengals who will still be the Bengals and find a way to mess it up and the Ravens will still be nothing more than a spoiler for teams that may ACTUALLY have a chance. Cleveland will always be a factory of sadness.

The mortar is just asking Spags to keep coming up with crafty blitzes. It's taking what you've got already and hoping to stretch it.

Find somebody that holds on to you the way Clark Hunt held onto that 1st rounder so Chiefs fans could watch the pick live.

Really great. Really special.

Look forward to being there to watch the Chiefs select a possession receiver or right tackle at pick 30.

Really going to be a moment worth holding onto.

Thankful we didn't lose that by trading for a young passrusher.

God, could you imagine having an effective four man rush to get to Josh Allen in Buffalo in January, only to hang out at Union Station getting obnoxiously blitzed while the other 31 teams spend 32 picks trying to catch up with us.

We are so fortunate to have eluded that timeline.

I think DJ was right that they're probably a few middling options that you think might have made us better, but maybe they were asking for mad compensation.

Also think he might be right and they think the DL can be patched up and made to work this year and addressed in FA.

^ Imagine crying that we didn't trade a 1st+ for a topped out Josh Allen. Holy **** balls, for all the screeching about Frank Clark you'd think we would've learned our lesson not to do that again.

Lorenzo Carter?

I mean it HAS to be a player for player swap, right? Why would we deal a rotational DB who's sucking up major snaps for us just to get a 3rd day pick? We benefit more from the depth than the pick.
