Has anyone ever traveled on Greyhound before?

My job wants me to travel and I was thinking of taking greyhound as I'm not a big fan of flying. How awful is it?

It seems more expensive than flying which is confusing to me

Anything over 5-6 hours and you end being tired/wore out into the next day. If you need to be sharp and ready for anything then fly. Did Amtrack once from east coast to southern IA and it was an interesting trip. Never did the bus. I'm pretty brave, but I'm not sure I'm that brave.

To answer the original question: No. No one has ever traveled on Greyhound before.

Personally, I’m skeptical that man will ever travel on Greyhound, though traveling on Greyhound conceivably could be faked in a well equipped studio setting.

I think Paul Simon and Kathy once took a Greyhound to Pittsburgh. But maybe he's just telling stories.

He also claimed to be sitting at a railway station with a ticket for his destination. Hmm. Hmm-mmmmm-mm.

Do you find him remotely credible?

An 8-hour drive isn't bad at all.

Back in my collage days, me and a buddy took his brothers car to Texas. Started early on day one, drop the car off early evening then drove back to KC got back really early on day two. So I got to drive that round trip without any sleep. (things you do for $200 when your younger)

But that was when he was homeward bound. I presume he took the Greyhound out and the train back.

I actually did travel Greyhound back around 2005 or so. My trip was Orlando, FL to Dayton, OH and back.

All of the pros essentially become cons.

-It's cheap -> the fact that it's cheap means the people riding with you are generally kind of trashy/sketchy.

-Sightseeing -> you hit a point where there's too much sightseeing.

-Stops in major cities -> they stop in every major city and some minor ones as well which makes the going slow.

There is really no benefit to Greyhound travel if flying is an option, dude. You've just gotta sack up.

I did a few times back in the '90s. It's basically the same as flying with the small seats, people kind of jammed in there, etc. just a lot slower.

The one pro is that you get out a lot. They stop in nearly every town, and you can get out and walk around the bus a couple times or whatever. Also, generally speaking the food is a lot better for obvious reasons.

And I've done a lot f long-distance driving. Even now, a couple times a year I have a 13.5 hour drive and a 9.5 hour drive I do every year. If you're not used to it, it can be very tedious. Tedious even when you're a pro at it. One trick I use is to pick out an interesting place or one with really good food somewhere in the middle. Gives you something to look forward to.
