*****Official 2025 Royals Season Repository Thread*****

Coming off an American League Divisional Series appearance, its year 3 of Matt Quatraro tenure. Can they take the next step to a division title? Can Bobby Witt, Jr. take his superstar status to another level? Can Cole Ragans develop more? Will the other starting pitching duplicate last season? The offense can it deliver more? Who will be in the outfield? How about the new stadium development?

Starting Lineup

1. Willie Wilson - S - LF
2. Bobby Witt Jr - R - SS
3. George Brett - L - 3B
4. Carlos Beltran - S - RF
5. Mike Sweeney - R - 1B
6. Hal McRae - R - DH
7. Amos Otis - R - CF
8. Salvador Perez - R - C
9. Frank White - R - 2B

Bench

10. Darrell Porter - L - C
11. Lorenzo Cain - R - OF
12. Alex Gordon - L - OF
13. Whit Merrifield - R - IF/OF

Rotation

1. Bret Saberhagen - RHP
2. Kevin Appier - RHP
3. Zack Greinke - RHP
4. David Cone - RHP
5. Dennis Leonard - RHP

Bullpen

6. Dan Quisenberry - RHP
7. Jeff Montgomery - RHP
8. Joakim Soria - RHP
9. Greg Holland - RHP
10. Wade Davis - RHP
11. Kelvin Herrera - RHP
12. Steve Busby - RHP
13. Mark Gubicza - RHP

Ton of speed on this team and an airtight bullpen. Not a lot of power, but a lot of timely hitting. Scoring runs shouldn’t be a problem. Only wrinkle on defense is Mike Sweeney at first, gold gloves at pretty much every other position. Wish the pitching had a lefty or two, but I feel good about this staff. Lot of Cy Young awards there, and I’m pretty convinced if Sabes and Ape don’t get hurt, they’d be HOFers. How about you, whaddya got?
we don't have any good left-handed pitchers? And Bo Jackson should be an exception to your 3 year deal.

Jackson county is close to losing the chiefs and the royals and Frank White is a big reason why. He’s clearly bitter towards the royals and is doing everying in his power to get back at them.

He also ushered in massive personal property tax increases. His legacy is sullied and he’s the reason why.

Jermaine Dye had a fantastic 3 year stretch for the Royals that may put him up there somewhere. 25+ HRs and 100+ RBIs while batting near or over .300 for that 3 year stretch. I think he's vastly underrated for his entire career performance too. 325 HRs and .274 Average. He goes over Whit in my opinion.

Who are you putting Bo Jackson in front of? For his production he's so criminally overrated it's crazy. Sure he was incredibly gifted and did some amazing things, but that doesn't mean he should be placed ahead of any of the guys on that list. He wasn't better than any of the guys ahead of him.

My all-time Royals lineup would be as follows:

1. Carlos Beltran, RF
2. Bobby Witt, SS
3. George Brett, 3B
4. Mike Sweeney, 1B
5. John Mayberry, DH
6. Amos Otis, CF
7. Salvador Perez, C
8. Frank White, 2B
9. Bo Jackson, LF (I know his tenure was short, but he was just starting to peak when the hip injury happened. The arrow was pointed up.)

P - Zack Greinke (best SP in Royals history)
P - Bret Saberhagen
P - David Cone
P - Dennis Leonard
P - Steve Busby

Bullpen:
Greg Holland
Wade Davis
Kelvin Herrera
Jeff Montgomery
Dan Quisenberry
Danny Duffy (I wanted a lefty in the pen and Duff-man was excellent in short stints)
Jeremy Affeldt (became an elite reliever over the course of his career, and again, lefty)
Joakim Soria

Bench
Darrell Porter (but without the cocaine)
Willie Wilson
Alex Gordon
Alcides Escobar (need a backup SS/util fielding type)*
Whit Merrifield

Give me Willie Wilson over AO in center and Hosmer over Sweeney at first.
