Lamar is a business man -- he has every right to make $$ this way if he sees fit. If people are willing to pay, then why not?
It is still not going to change the fact that this game is going to blow chunks! Talk about an exercise in futility... |

They're going to have a hard time filling Arrowhead after the Titans game...

Luz-Yes I have, probably about six times minimum! It's Peale with an "e."Bamn man, are you making a living slamming on me these days?
HC-I am a money hungry capitalist, I have no problem with making money. I do think that you should produce a superior product to do so. That's just me. |

Kurt - absolutely! Lamar will soon find out just how important having a successful team is! If we don't start winning, and make a return to the playoffs, I can see A LOT of fans bailing on this team. Currently, he's still coasting on the massively successful 90's teams.

I kinda agree. I think breaking a record that was "created" with one venue in mind is kinda cheesey if you break it at two venues based on a technicality that those two venues just happen to share the same sports complex.
I personally wouldn't go but that's just me... If people actually pay money to go then more power to Lamar! |

Phobia-If breaking the record was his motivation he would open the stadium for free! NO? I would! (if THAT were my motivation.)
Luz, Seems that you need to take your own advice, me thinks that you said something once about attacking the thought not the person. Your tactics remind me of someone else from our past that we both know..... Now that you have gotten your slam in on me what do you think about the post/idea? |

It's a good idea if people are actually stupid enough to pay $10 plus parking and concessions & fight the crowd to watch the game on TV.
I don't get how turning Kaufmann Stadium into the world's largest sports bar constitutes breaking an attendence record. People watching the game on TV shouldn't count towards attending fans just because they happen to be next door. Why not count me? I'll be watching the game on TV too!! ------------------ This is my signature!! There are many like it but this one is mine!! |

Kurt,
I didn't read Luz's comment as a stab at you. I don't know though. Just thought you might be interested in an unbiased opinion. You want to see someone that has way too much time on their hands, witness Gump trying his best to get me fired. |

KP-Actually Luz and I are great friends. He thinks that I am negative because I don't agree with the direction this franchise is moving. He also preaches attack the post not the post-er, me thinks he is a bit of a hypocrite (as am I!)
BTW, How can someone get you fired from a position that you volunteered for? One that pays nothing. Gump must be Big Daddy in drag! |

For the life of me I can't see what all of the bitching is about.
Name one sportsbar or anyone who has a TV as big as the Diamond Screen at Kaufman. If you don't think it's worth it don't go, damn its as simple as that. I can't think of anouther venue which would have the same atmospher. I say more power to the Chiefs and Royals for trying something new.<BR> |

The reason I don't like it is this:
Lamar has football issues to worry about, but once again money seems to be a higher priority. I guess he'd better get it while he can, because if the Chiefs play at home the way they did on Sunday 4 or 5 more times, the sellouts will come to an abrupt end, IMO. That's when the REAL changes will take place. ------------------ This is my signature!! There are many like it but this one is mine!! |

This seems like a strange move to me, or least the timing seems kind of strange. I guess it just worked out that way though because this has been in the works for awhile. But as many of you stated, if the Chiefs don't turn things around, they won't be able to fill up Arrowhead, let alone the K. Maybe it was because of the heat Sunday, but I noticed what I thought was a large number of empty seats for a home opener. And there were LOTS of people selling tickets before the game.

Kurt,
It wasn't at all an attack, but it was a personal question. Saying that Lamar (or something he's doing) is bogus, however, is a personal attack (bogus implies premeditation/scam). I pointed out that book because I knew you would be familiar with it and it does refer to the idea of assuming the best about other people ~ not the worst. If I lived in KC and if I didn't have tickets to the game I would certainly go (and be glad to have had the opportunity). Several years ago, after a chiefs game, they showed the end of an important Denver game on the big replay screens at Arrowhead and it was fantastic. I don't understand why people feel the need to constantly bash or run things down? If I don't like something I don't do it (I don't try to make other people feel bad if they like it and I don't try to talk them out of doing it). This isn't about you Kurt; it's about a trend in our society that I don't like. Luz going way past .02 cents... |
