This story sounds a little fishy. First of all, all of the information is hearsay; secondly, it plays way too nicely into the inferiority complex regarding other cities' supposed sophistication that Kansas Citians share along with folks from other great Midwestern cities. Aw shucks, our hotel rooms aren't good enough for 'dem New Yawkers! Please.
If there is any basis in fact for this story, it's probably due to Miller having a bad back or something innocuous like that. No matter how great a hotel is, if it has bad mattresses and you have a bad back, plus the time and money to go elsewhere, you probably will. |

AZ,
I agree, I live in the bay area, and there are just better things out here in terms of hotels and restaurants. Sometimes the truth hurts, and I love KC, but compared to the "big boys" we just don't stack up. That's why the city has to continue to improve and grow, if they want to ever be considered top notch. I dislike being behind St Louis... |

I wouldn't take it too personally. I have no doubt that it happened. While I haven't had to stay in a hotel in KC for quite some time due to family re-relocating there, if one is accustomed to all the perks of a large expense account, I wouldn't settle for less than best in accomadations. I haven't had the luxury of a stretch limo to tote me around but I've stayed in some pretty darn nice 5-stars on client's dimes & it's easy to get used to. The Plaza doesn't have a hotel above 4 stars IMHO.

I don't know if it's true or not. I saw it on both sportswaves and nflscoop and thought it would make good fodder for discussion...
But it would NOT surprise me if Miller acts this way in the least...<BR> |

It was reported that he just wanted to be closer to the stadium, maybe close enough to smell the flavor of the place.
Some of the posts in this thread are obviously out of touch and curiously defensible. And Russ, what kind of crack is that? You're either reading too much USA Today or have too much time on your hands. |

I thought he was VERY complimentary of KC and the stadium tonight. And I liked Mellisa Stark's choice in colors tonight...

BTW, nice article on Miller and the gang in the Star:
http://www.kcstar.com/item/pages/sports.pat,sports/3774ce16.a02,.html "I told Dennis when he got the job, this was going to be his favorite stop," said Michaels, the veteran "Monday Night Football" play-by-play man. "There are only two places in the league where you really have a great college atmosphere. One is Green Bay, the other is Kansas City. There is a feel in this stadium and Lambeau Field like no other." "Seinfeld called me and said he never laughs at the jokes," Miller said. "He laughs when I try to act like I'm a football announcer. When I say something like, `You've got to wrap up on him' he falls on the floor when he hears me talk in football terminology." |

I'm going to have a little crow for breakfast this morning. Dennis Miller did OK last night.
I don't want to go on another rant, but crow tastes alot like an exotic endangered species of the spiney Siberian Monkey wolf that I had "one time at band camp". The sting reminds me of my 1st undocumented case of untreated ghonorea. I don't care if He didn't like the hotels. I just don't have sympathy when I'm doing good to stay at a comfort inn, but maybe thats just me. |
