Hollywood tower hotel (Tower of terror)

My family and I went to Disneyland for Thanksgiving and this ride was a hoot! Has anyone here been on it? I think I heard they have one at Disneyworld thats even taller.

In case you've never heard of it it's a ride where you get in an elevator that takes you up 13 stories before dropping faster than gravity.. It was dang fun! The California screaming coaster was good too.
We have NO good coasters in this state.

Your reply was the most suitable.

I've been on the one at Disney World many times, most recently last week. It is taller than that. When it first came out it was excellent. You could feel the drop and your stomach would still be at the top of the building while your body drops down. THen they changed it. Tower of Terror 2. Tower of More Terror. Etc. Each time they have toyed with adding more drops and changing the length of drops. Both of the last 2 times I've been on it have been very disappointing. No longer do you "feel" the drop. Now it is not much more than a typical elevator ride

It used to be great...

Did you see the water show where they project part of the movie on the water and the water spray? That looks pretty cool on TV also.
Fantasmic? That show is still great. To get good seats (or any at all) you used to have to get there 2hrs in advance. Now if you get there 45min - 1hr in advance you should be alright. However, it used to be that while you waited they had staff in character come around and entertain (a cleaning lady, janitors, etc.). Now they just pipe music and make you sit there. Guess its all part of the cut-back scheme..

Faster than gravity would require an accelerant attached to the carriage.

If the carriage was in free-fall then it wouldnt be 'faster' than gravity.

Yeah, mission space can mess you up for a little bit. Sometimes I skip it just cause I don't feel like chancing it.

Also, the best ride in all of Disney is, IMO, Rockin Roller Coaster. The initial excelleration is amazing and riding a roller coaster with Aerosmith blasting is excellent.

We went to Orlando last March and went on all these. Loved the Tower of Terror.

I didn't have any motion problems with Mission:Space (be VERY sure to watch the screen the whole time, or you will get disoriented) but for some reason it gave me a really bad headache, so I only went on it once (my wife went on it three times and she isn't much of a ride person).

Rockin' Rollercoaster is awesome. Very smooth and fast. It freaked my wife out watching it peel out while we were in line, but she liked it, too.

They do accelerate the carriage
(saw a show on the Travel Channel)

FYI: they are currently working on a zero-g 'simulator'. They were rather vague about it, but it sounds like they will have anti-gravity 'experience rides' in the near future (within the next 5 years). No wires, no flying.... they would not go into any more details than that. I CAN'T WAIT!

I probably worded it wrong.. Here's a quote from the tower of terror website.

Thanks for the physics lesson..

Quote:
That Sinking (Fast) Feeling: Guests aboard Tower of Terror fall faster than gravity. That is because the elevator car doesn't "free fall" -- the ride's mechanics actually "push" and "pull" it up and down.
