I think they're using him about right.
You've gotta remember that he started the season out slow. If he had been on at the beginning of the year, and Grbac had played the San Diego game, Gonzo would already have over 100 catches. |

Mile High--
Would you stop with all of the intelligent and classy posts? You're going to give Bronco fans a good name! :D IMO, He will come just short of 100 unless they game plan for that specific purpose. With Raye, I wouldn't hold my breath for any kind of game plan. What I wonder is whether or not Elvis will go out of his way and force a few to TG. I wouldn't doubt it. If he's just a few catches short, I would like to see them go out of their way to get the guy the record. What else do they have to play for? As far as TG being overworked . . . I never considered that. The only player he can be compared to is Kellen Winslow. How long did KW play for San Diego? With all of the abuse taken in the passing game, longevity is definitely an issue. I think we are all so stoked on the guy no one has considered that option. Anyone else have any ideas? MM ~~Will enjoy it while it lasts. |

I have a feeling that they'll come out running the ball next week, especially if the Chiefs are truly thinking about using T Rich as an every down back next year.

sounds like KC needs another WR to step up and take some of the heat off your boy b/f he gets overworked
Alexander has more catches & is well over 1000 yards. In addition, we will have a seasoned SlyMo next year ;) Add a RB, and we'll have a top-5 O! |

Gonzo is a stud. I wouldn't worry to much about overworking him. He is still young and in good shape. I think the enemy just wants us to stop using him so much. :)

Gonzo is great but I am starting to get a little worried about SlyMo.
For supposedly having great hands he dropped quite a few balls yesterday. |

Yeah, what's the deal w/SlyMO? Maybe he's readin' his press clippings? I think raiderhader hit the nail on the head w/ TonyG! rh  to think I actually defended that jerk pRison...grrrr*! [This message has been edited by redhed (edited 12-18-2000).] |

Even if Gonzo doesn't get to 100 receptions I'd like to see him get 9 catches next week so he can at least break the NFL TE season reception record. (Currently Ben Coates with 96)

Atlanta gives up about 20 catches a game, on average, so there is a chance for him to get the 9, but 12 is really pushing it.

If Terrel Owens can get 20 in a game...TG can get 13....it should be easy....just 13 little dump passes..even if they go for negative yards...screw the victory, go for the NFL records...only half kidding...
I bet they do try to get him the ball more though.... |

I agree Joe,
Seeing Tony G get the record means WAY more to me than the 8th win of the season against the hapless Falcons. Hopefully they can find a way to do both. I was a little disappointed he didn't pick up a few more in the Denver game, making his job this weekend a little easier. ------------------ Gary |
