It's getting great reviews! Anyone see it yet? I'm gone most of the weekend but can't wait to see this film...another possible Romero masterpiece. ** loves zombie flicks ** |

I'm going to go see it tonight, but I'm trying to get 28 Days out of my mind because it was such a good movie...I don't want to compare the two.

I saw it Tuesday nite. I would say it's a good "Zombie" movie. Like the earlier ones directed by Romero has alot to say about society. Fairly action packed almost more action than 'horror' some good 'jump scares' here and there.

From the reviews it sounds like the social commentary and satire of Dawn of the Dead are still there.
Seems to have a solid budget and up to date special effects...

28 Days was supposed to be a "believable" zombie movie in the way Signs was supposed to be a more down to earth and believable flick. Neither pulled off the "believable" idea, but I still kinda' like signs. 28 Days was ok, but I still prefer the older Romero stuff...

Excellent thread!! I was wondering how many other zombie Romero fans were out there!
I've read a few reviews all giving it thumbs up. I quit reading the reviews if it starts giving out more info then i want to know about the movie though. I am really looking forward to this movie. Unfortunately, due to other things going on the weekend i have to wait for the 1:00 O'clock show on Sunday. |

I have positives and negatives about 28 days later. I was hopeing more out of the movie i think. Realistically to infect another human through a drop of blood is more realistic then waiting for a zombie to actually bite you to get infected.
I love Dawn of the Dead. Had decent humourous moments in it. And you liked most of the people in it as the movie when on. Those zombies could run though. If they are after you then look-out! Im interested to see how fast they run in Land of the Dead. Also in Land of the dead the zombies are a little smarter. I liken them to about reerun level if i were to guess. And they try to figure out how to shoot a machine gun. That should be funny right there. |

Well, I saw it.
Hard to review without spoilers (though there really isn't anything you don't see coming), I'll try to keep it general: This isn't a horror movie. And it really isn't an action movie. I don't know what it is. It's an allegory, but one with too many possible interpretations for me to explain. It's about class warfare, and the dispossed. Its about nationalism (with what I thought was a funny juxtapositon of the US and Canada...won't spoil it), immigrants/foriegners, etc... Romero's unique talent is using humor in a gore flick, not ha-ha stuff or corny "groan" jokes, but a kind of rueful humor that seems to calibrated just right for his movie. If it weren't for the little bit of humor (listen to Hopper as he picks his nose...) I'm not sure what I'd say about the movie. I don't know if there is really anything to call a plot...people run around trying to complete certain tasks, and in the end some escape and some don't. I enjoyed it in a real low grade way. The movie doesn't come to any conclusion, it just ends. If it were any director other then Romero I think people would review this movie a lot harsher...it ain't always great filmmaking. The more I think about it the more ambivelant I am. It isn't scary...at all...ever. So..shit...I don't know. Now I'm not sure if I like it or not.
