Tonight's Announcers: They don't really suck

I'm mildly impressed. While they aren't exactly a wealth of knowledge they are spending their time talking about the player that just made the last play. It's distributed between the teams evenly. They're excited about big plays, but not to the detriment of one team or the other. All said I give this one a thumbs up.

I too was mildly impressed. I made the comment to my buddy that it was a refreshing change of pace not to be getting butt slammed by the announcing crew for a change. He reminded me that the announcing crew tends to compliment the team that's winning more often than not.

Only problem I have with Gus Johnson is his making every player out to be the greatest player ever!!

I laughed when he proclaimed with great enthusiasm "Here comes Gus" when Frerotte came trotting on the field at one point. Made him seem like he was going to singlehandly destroy the Chiefs, stop the war on terror, and stop hurricane Wilma.

He did the same thing for Ricky Williams later......... he who had minus yards rushing!

Also did it for Gonzo and Larry Johnson, equally annoying no matter who he talks about!

But the announcers were pretty good tonite, spread the praise around very well to both teams.

Not much better, really. Only difference was that they were practically fellating us instead of actually fellating our competition.

They were a little heavy on the Chiefs praise at the end, but that's to be expected for the winning team. I don't think I would have had an issue with it if I were a Dolphins fan.

I thought they did a pretty good job. Much better than Maas and Rosen or Cross and whoever or Mark May and whoever.

I like Len Dawson but I think overall the announcing sucked. A lot of times I was wondering "What just happened..? How many yards did we get? Who just made a play?"....I was getting everything on the KC Fox stream so who knows if my stream was bad or something.. But, instead of saying "They got a 5 yd. gain...Isn't it just as easy to say Holmes busts one outside for a five yd. gain...??

There were a ton of times when Mitch would call the play and not provide down and distance, formation, what side did the play go to, and how many yards were gained.

I was delivering pizzas all night, and Mitch was driving me crazy. Thank God for Tivo.

I didnt really like the radio broadcast, beings I wasnt able to see it, but while I watch Chiefs games on TV, I generally like to just turn the sound down and listen to Dawson and Holthus announce the game on the stereo while watching the action on screen.

They seem to call the game like many Chiefs fans think. Like when theres just over 2 minutes left in the game, and Al Saunders called for a f'in empty backfield set and the pass got picked off. Thankfully it was called back due to defensive holding, but it was nice to hear Len Dawson echoing the thought that was running through my head when I heard the formation.

"How can you go with an empty backfield with just over 2 minutes to go in the game?"

Just another indication of the "genius" Al Saunders getting bored with conventional playcalling. All we have to do is run out the clock for a win, and he's wanting to go 5 wide and throw.

Completely asinine, and I love that Holthus and Dawson, hell even Bob Gretz call Saunders out on the blatant stupidity that he displayed there.

They gave more love to the Chiefs cause anybody who would be rooting for the fins was evacuating at game time.
