WEEK SEVEN DEFENSIVE STATS

This will be done every other week to compare how are defense is doing this year. This is comparison #2 (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=126246)

Chiefs - 2002 Defensive Stats
Total yards: #32 (390.5 yards/game)
vs Run: #24 (129.2)
vs Pass: #31 (261.9)
PPG: #28 (24.9)
Take Aways: (1.93 per game)

Chiefs - 2003 Defensive Stats
Total yards: #29 (356.7 yards/game)
vs Run: #30 (146.5)
vs Pass: #20 (210.2)
PPG: #19 (20.8)
Take Aways: (2.31 per game)

Chiefs - 2004 Defensive Stats
Total yards: #30 (377.3 yards/game)
vs Run: #12 (114.6)
vs Pass: #32 (262.7)
PPG: #29 (27.2)
Take Aways: (1.31 per game)

Chiefs - 2005 (thru week 7)
Total yards: #27 (359.2 yards/game) (-9 avg/game better since week 5)
vs Run: #8 (95.5) (+1 yard since week 5)
vs Pass: #30 (263.7) (-10 avg/game better since week 5)
PPG: #21 (22.0) (-1 point better since week 5)

Our Pass D wouldn't suck so bad if we cut down on those 70+ yard TD passes every week.

I think having Warfield/Press Defense will help.... With Mcleon we had to play the soft zone, I think that is why we are moving more towards a press d. Our stats will look better at the end of the year...

It means Eric Hicks hasn't gotten any pressure on the QB since 2000 and that the Chiefs haven't gotten good return on any of the DTs they have drafted in the DV era.

Ive been saying all year that the defense would start to gel by week 8. I think we're in for a big improvement through the last 10 games of the season.
