Need a little help with saving pictures
Every time I go to download an image off the net, the 'puter always stores it as a .bmp, but I would like it to be saved as a .jpg. This is completely unacceptable. [/snooty English voice]

Any ideas as to how to change the format in which my pictures are stored?

Why don't you just click down the drop down that "Save as Type:" to the other option other then Bitmap(BMP)?

There is a Save Target As option, but it won't let me click it.

Go here http://www.irfanview.com/ click download and install this. See if that ungrey's the box. I think there is some question in the install mentioning IE, so make sure to click yes.

As silly as it sounds, delete your Temporary Internet Files. Then try again.

Nope, didn't do it. When it comes up to the "Save Target As" option at the bottom of the window, it still won't give me a choice other than .bmp.

Morph, downloaded your program, and got a Trojan. Thanks a lot.


Nah, just kidding. That didn't seem to help, either.

The problem is that your pictures are being opened with Internet Explorer. If you don't have an imaging program installed thats the default. Short of finding a program and installing it you can save the image as you are now then clip on programs, accessories and paint. Open the saved image within paint then click on file, save as and in the window that appears change the file type to jpeg.
