After tonight, the Royals have the 2nd worst record in baseball.....Tampa Bay lost tonight moving them below the Royals....the Cubs are the next to fall below the streaking Royals.

You really have to tip your cap to these guys...People were talking about them losing more games than any team in history, but now they won't even hit 100 losses. Their record since the change in management is very respectable.
The next couple of years, it might actually get to be fun watching the Royals again... |

I tell you what, if we end the season with only 99 losses, I consider this a successful season.

there was also a very interesting blog post over on Royals Review earlier this week detailing how the Royals have actually played better (physically and record wise) baseball than the Cards for the last three months.... that makes me all happy in the pants as well...

This is definetly a major turn around considering how bad we were the first few months. Room for improvement by alot still but this team will be alot better next year. I can't wait to see Gordon and Butler, along with Greinke up next year and maybe Hochevar.

Yeah, since May 28th, we have nearly identical records. I began keeping track a month or so ago, after some dumb St. Louis Liberal-Dispatch sports reporter made some comment like, "The Cardinals haven't been playing very good, but they are anywhere near the abysmal mess of hopelessness that is the Kansas City Royals." I guess he hadn't bothered to check his facts and notice that over the last 100 games or so, the Cardinals have been right on the Royals level. The Cardinals got off to a good start, and have been the beneficiary of much charity from the Reds and Astros - two teams who had many chances to overtake the Cardinals, but have insisted on handing them the division title. Living here in St. Loser, I take a lot of crap for the Royals - they can't believe I still watch most of the games on Extra Innings - they really have no idea what being a loyal fan means. You can't imagine the howling these idiots do about the owners not spending money, etc. They complain about the new ballpark. It's pathetic, really. I am thrilled the Royals have played pretty damn good ball the last 4 months. Not so thrilled that somehow Buddy Bell is going to manage to keep his job another year. That one is hard to swallow. |

Check this out:
Angel Berroa took a walk, then Joey Gathwright homered. That's the most improbable sequence in baseball history. |
