Go get a copy of "The One Minute Manager" and read it. It is a very quick read, easily finished in one afternoon even if you are a very slow reader. Soak in the philosophy and put it in your own terms and present it as your own personal management style. Next, steal a management handbook from your HR department. Use that document to memorize the buzzwords and key phrases that are native to your company. Spend a lot of time with this. Next, look up the history of your company. Find out who what its founding concepts were and who the sacred cows are. Memorize as much of this history as you possibly can. During the interview, construct all of your responses from one of those three activities. If you have what it takes to be a good manager then that is all you will need to get promoted. |
