I've decided that it's time to get off my butt and run a marathon. There is a local one at the end of October. By my calculations that give me about 15 weeks to get in shape.

Besides "don't eat a chicken fried pork fritter the morning of the run and make sure your shoes are tied"....has anyone run a marathon or have any tips or advice?

I sure don't run them but I know people who run half marathons and they train incredibly for them. You really have a lot of training to do to hope to be successful.
