Do you have iTunes? If so, drag your songs to the left side of the console, then right click and select "Burn to Disc". It will up-convert your mp3's to 16 bit 44.1k wav files to be read by any CD player.

I had a guy burn a bunch of stuff for me I really wanted. When he gave it to me it was all on what looks like a CD but it actually says it's an MP3 with surround sound. I have been using an MP3 player with a casset to listen to it but that is a pain in the ass. I went to burn it on Nero but it burns it in the same floormat. I'm frusterated.

Use nero to burn mp3's to Cd... use the audio CD option.
To burn to CD as mp3 there's an option for that also. |

Usually you get better results going the other way. CD files (called AIFF files) are denser and much bigger than MP3s. If you have an MP3 and roll it back up to an AIFF file, the sound will be thinner than the original. You lose a lot of the punch. You can do it, but why?

AIFF file: Short for Audio Interchange File Format, a common format for storing and transmitting sampled sound. The format was developed by Apple Computer and is the standard audio format for Macintosh computers. It is also used by Silicon Graphics Incorporated (SGI). AIFF files generally end with a .AIF or .IEF extension. The AIFF format does not support data compression so AIFF files tend to be large. However, there is another format called AIFF-Compressed (AIFF-C or AIFC) that supports compression ratios as high as 6:1. WAV (or WAVE), short for Waveform audio format, is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing audio on PCs. It is a variant of the RIFF bitstream format method for storing data in "chunks", and thus also close to the IFF and the AIFF format used on Amiga and Macintosh computers, respectively. It is the main format used on Windows systems for raw audio. Both WAVs and AIFFs are compatible with Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The format takes into account some differences of the Intel CPU such as little-endian byte order. The RIFF format acts as a "wrapper" for various audio compression codecs. Though a WAV file can hold compressed audio, the most common WAV format contains uncompressed audio in the pulse-code modulation (PCM) format. PCM audio is the standard audio file format for CDs at 44,100 samples per second, 16 bits per sample. Since PCM uses an uncompressed, lossless storage method, which keeps all the samples of an audio track, professional users or audio experts may use the WAV format for maximum audio quality. WAV audio can also be edited and manipulated with relative ease using software. |

Normally, CD songs are in CDDA or CDDB format.
Hell, Windows Media Player (shudder) can burn MP3's to audio CD format. My wife uses it all the time. |

CD to CD will just mirror your CD you're trying to copy (hence mp3 files again). You'll have to probably take the mp3's and save them to the computer and then use Nero to copy them to CD in CD format. |

Super C is a great free conversion utility for audio and video.
Here's a link: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html You'll have to go digging through a few pages of that site to find the download link but it's worth it. |

Peopel are making this way more complicated that it really is.
I know people are loathe to use anything by Microsoft, but Windows Media Player does this and does it WELL. |
