I had created an online survey a couple months back to gauge interest in donating toward a new server. Fortunately, Kyle has been able to get things going recently, as described in this thread. Even so, I thought it might be cool to have people complete the survey anyway. (Plus, I hate to have done all that work for nothing!) It's four questions long, and you can take the survey whether or not you plan to donate toward the new server.

Go here to participate in the survey. Survey results are anonymous, so be honest, but don't worry about looking bad for making a small donation or getting a big head for making a big one. I'll post the results after it's been up for a few days.

HOW TO DONATE:

-Look for the donation button at the bottom of the page in "Full Featured" mode or at the top of the page in "At Work" mode.

-Send donations to:

Note that many banks provide free BillPay systems through their online banking. Using a system like this, you can easily set up a payment that could be made on a regular basis (i.e monthly).

Keep in mind that 1) chances are not everyone who says they will donate actually will, and 2) I don't know what the base costs of the server are - only the $100 per month extra Kyle mentioned. Chances are, the red line's pretty low compared to the actual costs.

Done, though I have to manually update it to get all the cool math done.

I did throw out one response, though, that pledged to donate $2000 annually. I figure that one is one of three things: 1) Someone was drunk, 2) Someone is crazy, or 3) It's Kyle, and this place costs him $2000 per year.

Kyle - if that was you, let me know what your operating costs are (above the added $100/month for the new server) and I'll adjust my red line appropriately.

Filled it out. Good survey. Hopefully the majority will be honest so we can get idea of where the site is standing. Haven't said it before, but thanks to AustinChief and the mods for all there work keeping a place where us fans can vent.

no, that is accurate for the EXTRA cost... triple that for close to the real cost.

Well, I know it's still a little weird looking, but Kyle has completed everything he's promised - we're fully transitioned to the new server, and we're now running on a non-archaic version of vBulletin!

I will now be donating as promised back when Kyle first said he'd be getting this done for us, and I hope the rest of you will do the same. It'll probably still take a little while for everything to get back to "normal," but we're well on our way!
