Why ANY wreslting promotion would allow a bump as sick as this to go through is beyond me. I guess it didn't help that Grimes flew a little too far.

New Jack wanted to kill Grimes with that bump, because of this one.

I don't quite understand what Grimes and New Jack had in mind when they both tumbled down that banner. I wonder what was supposed to really happen.

From Wikipedia:
The Danbury Fall On March 13, 2000, New Jack (legitimately) suffered brain damage and was permanently blinded in his right eye, when he and his opponent, Vic Grimes, fell off a 15-foot-tall scaffold[2], missed the tables that were supposed to absorb the force of their fall and landed on the concrete floor (with Grimes landing on New Jack's head) at Living Dangerously 2000. In a rematch between the two in Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW), New Jack threw Grimes off of a scaffold, with Grimes plummeting forty feet into the ring. The stunt did not work out as planned, as Grimes did not go through all twelve tables that were intended to break his fall and ended up dislocating his ankle on a rope. In the 2005 documentary Forever Hardcore, New Jack claimed that he had intentionally thrown Grimes too hard in the hopes that he would hit the ring post and for Grimes to be injured or killed. Also in the interview, he said that the Living Dangerously accident was his own fault for prematurely pulling Grimes down off of the scaffold. Jack has said that Grimes had been going around telling the locker room that he hurt New Jack, until Jack replied by saying "I hurt me." |

I doubt its what you're after.....but last night the 2008 Iowa HS folkstyle wrestling finals was on TV. Its entertaining to watch the tremendous athletes coming out of Iowa HS in all sizes battling it out on 3 consecutive mats for championships they've worked their entire lives to achieve.
Last night, I saw a kid do a backflip in a match while his foot was being forced over his head, and another championship decided in 4x overtime It doesn't require pyrotechnics, entry music, greased up women in thongs or feather boas.......but it gets an arena of fans just as excited. |

Different strokes for different folks. I've never been into HS wrestling, nor into WWE any time soon. I enjoyed the variety, and different form of wrestling that ECW, XPW, CZW brought to the table. I'm not into the soap opera-like antics that professional wrestling brings.

The only soap opera drama I see in that, besides the individual stories and struggles....might be like the kid last night whose brother was killed last week, or a kid going for his very, very rare 4th state title, or the kids who have met twice in the year, splitting wins with the tie breaker for all the marbles.....and the kids you've known for 15 years.

Big fan of the bump at the one minute mark, plenty of clips of the Dudleyz and their flaming tables....
