I think I like this one better. It leaves the possibility of a survivor colony existing in the air.

Still doesn't go by the book, but it's one hell of a better ending than the one they had.
Still, I'd like to see them stay true. The book's ending is what made the book.

Yeah, no The Villiage shots in it. My only grip is that they leave the city. They mixed the endings it seems. He dies in one but lives on through the cure. He lives on in this one but no mention of the cure, really. I don't see why they can't have both: He dies and there's no cure.

The Mist ending was a tad disturbing. I don't see how a father can fight so hard to protect his son through ll of that mayhem only to give up so easily and off his son. Sickening.

The book was awesome, I have a hard time watching movies where I loved the book. Too critical I guess.

They drove and drove and it never ended. Why let your son live on in an uninhabitable place? 3 bullets, you should live on in the Mist. But the ending showed that he made the wrong decision. The point is can he live with it?

But this book thrived on the ending and this film ruined the ending twice; once just a tad less ruined than the other.

What was the actual ending to the book. I don't really understand what happened in this ending.

Lord of the Rings is an exception, I just can't think of many others. There are some good ones out there though.

In the book, the woman didn't have a kid. Instead, she turned out to be one of them. They evolved to be able to come out in the sun and operate like humans. (In fact, in the book, the entire time they are able to speak English.) So, she left after a period of time and he was broken into by the creatures because she told them how. He was captured and taken to their HQ. There he was imprisoned because he had attacked them when they came for him. They weren't going to hurt him. She gives him a cyanide tablet and tells him its for the best. He takes it and looks out the window. He sees them erecting their new society and realizes that he's the last of his kind. The virus hasn't taken people's humanity, it's evolved humanity and he's left behind. A relic. A legend. He concludes as he dies that "I Am Legend"

I liked this ending much better than the theatrical release. Probably because I loved Neville's character and, although it was heroic, hated to see him die in the original...Man, Will was great in this movie...
