Vikings | Team acquires J. Allen, agrees to terms on contract

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a contract with Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen. The Vikings will give the Chiefs their 2008 first-round draft pick, two third-round picks and the teams will swap sixth-round picks with the Vikings acquiring Allen. Allen has also agreed to terms on a six-year deal worth just under $74 million with $31,000,069 guaranteed. No. 69 is his jersey number.

Does the swap of 6th rounder benefit the Chiefs or the Vikes? Anybody have numbers for those picks (I'm too lazy).

Considering you pick at close to the same spot in each round, it obviously benefits the Vikings. If we have the higher pick in the 1st round, we obviously have the higher pick in each round. But I don't think it really matters. It's the freaking 6th round. By that point we will already have had 9 draft picks.

Actually the Chiefs have more than 1 6th rounder so it depends.

See Mecca's post, we have more than one 6th round pick dick head, but thanks for the holier than thou response, but it's not that easy.

We were coming off a playoff appearance, so I don't think it's that crazy that he thought we could keep the team competitive.

After this past season though, it looks like the higher-ups correctly realized that it's time for a rebuild.

We had two picks 170 and 187.
The Vikes had two picks as well 182 and 193.

Looked it up, Chiefs have/had the 4th and 21st picks in the 6th round (170 and 187), before the trade.

Yes. LJ should have been traded. I think many of us said that at the time.

Good NFL teams know when to blow up and start again. The Chiefs are going that route, although a year or so later than they should.

both teams have 2 6th rounders, the Chiefs picked up one from TB, and the Vikes got an extra one from Jax. I take it we are trading our own picks. Chiefs 6.04 for the Vikes 6.16?
