I doubt you actually want an answer, but the main things that separate the good from the bad are wordplay and delivery.

You're right, of course. I didn't want an answer.

Seriously, I recognize that there are differences between them, and that some are better to listen to than others. I honestly think that rappers are really just poets rather than musicians, though. Look at beat poets from the 1960s and rappers are clearly closer to them than they are to singing groups.

I've got no major problem with rap, but it's not music, it's poetry.

This list is a traveshamockery, evidenced by one omission....

No "Snow" (Informer) at number one.

This list proves Eminem is the best rapper of all time... There were so many rappers on this list Eminem just destroyed.

Marky Mark
Fred Durst
Vanilla Ice
ICP

He dissed Will Smith, Nelly, and others on the list, but he wrote entire songs about the ones above. Im surprised Benzino or Ja Rule arent on this list. He absolutely destroyed Benzino and he crushed Ja Rules record label.

Em's right up there among the best, I agree. (If not THE best)

That said, what made him so great was the personal emotion he put into it. He's told his story, through music... and it was fantastic.

I'm just not sure what he has left to say.

Not that I wouldn't listen.
