Amber Alert on dog in JoCo
Puppy stolen, doggie Amber Alert issued

The man who stole a valuable puppy from an Olathe pet store Saturday was still at large today after his owners issued a dog Amber Alert to other pet stores, clinics and vets.

Surveillance tape shows a man putting the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel into a bag and leaving the Petland store on Santa Fe Street. A manager said the 8-week-old puppy, worth up to $1,000, had just had surgery and needs care.

The thief was a male about 20 to 25 years old in a green shirt, tan shorts and flip flops. Anyone with information should call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

My only assumption is that this person doesn't realize that "Amber" is not a color, like the GWB threat level. Otherwise, the subtle linking of a "product" to a dead little girl would be rather distasteful to say the least.
