If we keep playing like this, we won't be in a position to draft Stafford. It's not good or bad, it is what it is.

With that being said, a genetic freak like Rak daddy would go a long way towards fixing the ills of this defense. He's not as long as Michael Johnson, but he's fast, explosive, and incredibly strong. Plus, he's taken boxing lessons, so Krumrie will love him with his ****tard slap-fight drill.

There could be worse selections in the 3-7 range where we will most likely choose.

our Oline has been much better since we actually started running some kind of scheme that gives our lineman a chance.

if our linebackers and safeties could tackle worth a crap then our defensive line would be more acceptable too.

that said RDE and RT are 2 huge needs for us

He wasn't even a LT in college. I think we could probably move him anywhere on the line except maybe center and he would probably hold his own. Maybe not, but the guy had the ability to go from being a college guard to good LT in the NFL, no small feat.

That's the offensive line for probably the greatest offense of all time. How many pro bowlers are on there? 2.

Timmerman made it once, and Pace is a HOF LT. All the other guys were journeyman or marginal players.

If the Bears were in position to draft Patrick Willis and they said "Well, you know, Urlacher played safety in college so we could move him out there." Would you support it?

The fact that he played guard in college means nothing. Maybe Monroe just wasn't versatile enough to play RT or inside, and Albert could play LG, so they put him there.

Before he was a tackle, he was considered a 2nd-3rd round prospect.

We could pick up a guy who could play guard or RT just as well as Albert in the 2nd or 3rd round and fill a position with a true impact player in the first.

Let see an average or solid line compared to a possible OL lineup that would make the opponent's shit their pants like the 90's Cowboys and the 2002-05 KC line which made their offense's into an exacting scoring juggernaut? I'd take the Cowboys or the Vermeil era KC Chiefs in comparison.

You could very well be right. But of course the flipside argument to that is people act like offensive linemen are easy to find and grow on trees yet we haven't been able to put any kind of decent one together for about 3 years.

It's a hell of a lot easier to have a line like the 90's Cowboys with no cap, FWIW...

That's also a different time. Lines were more important back then because you mug receivers and QBs needed more time for their men to get off the line and get open.

But that aside, look at the line that the Patriots and Colts have trotted out there. Not exactly chock full of badasses, yet it seems to work pretty well for them.

Not easy to find does not = easy to find with 6th and 7th round draft picks.

How many lineman have we drafted with picks ranging from the 2nd to the 5th round in the last five years?

That's where you fill your interior line. Just because we've spent nothing on it doesn't mean it's hard to find in the draft. It just means we've drafted incompetently. It's why I went off the handle when we passed up Kalil and Satele for McBride.
