Brutal Late Hit Breaks Collar Bone - Watch more Sports Videos Houston's Hunt apologizes for late hit November 10, 2008 3:51 PM Posted by ESPN.com's Graham Watson Houston defensive end Philip Hunt issued an apology on Monday for a hit he delivered to Tulane quarterback Joe Kemp that broke Kemp's left collarbone during Houston's 42-14 romp. Kemp, who had replaced starter Kevin Moore in the second quarter, was hit shortly thereafter when Hunt rushed in after the ball had been whistled dead for a delay-of-game penalty. Hunt knocked Kemp to the turf, breaking his collarbone and ending the redshirt freshman's season. "I want to start by saying how sorry I am for what happened the other night against Tulane," Hunt said in a statement. "I certainly did not try to hurt [Kemp]. I never heard the whistle, and I felt I was still being blocked so I continued on. "It was third down and 9, my adrenaline was pumping and the crowd was really loud. It just happened so quickly, and I am truly sorry and apologetic for him getting hurt." |

I think you should be allowed to blast the living **** out of the QB at any time.
Especially when he's at the urinal, that would be good tv. |

Bob Dole assumed they were flagging the QB for flopping around like a little girl.

I was QB from Jr High to Senior in HS. Had broken ribs and torn cartlidge in rib cage, busted up ankles, broken collar bone, and, the last straw my senior year, broken back. I realized, unfortunately way too late, that I wasn't big enough to play football (5'7" 135 pounds).
anyway, that QB was rolling on the ground like a baby. My broken Collar bone didn't hurt that bad. and yes it was broken all the way through not crack. He's either a wuss or was putting on an act. Believe it or not the broken back and jacked up ankles didn't hurt all that bad either. What really hurt was the broken ribs. That totally sucks as it hurts to laugh, cough, sneeze, and even breath. There isn't (or wasn't back then) any way to fix broken ribs except to just let them heal. Collar bone hurts, don't get me wrong, but sheesh! little too much acting. All in all, I don't believe it was a late hit. How much time passed between the whistle blows and the QB gets hit? .5 second or so? We've all seen later hits than that and there were no flags. |

That wasn't near as bad as the cheap shot that Polamalu put on Lockett a few years ago.

Regardless of the QB flopping around, dude should have been thrown out of the game, that wasn't even close.

Nobody heard the whistles. Sometimes you just miss them. So I disagree.
