I have always found it ironic that Playstations giant positive turned out to be a big negative for it as well. Blu Ray = price

Yep, Sony killed themselves this gen by putting in Blu Ray. It caused the $600 launch which lost Sony its marketshare and mindshare. It's the reason Sony can't lower the price of the PS3 any further, they're still losing money on it at $400, the manufacturing costs are high because of the Blu Ray drive.

It doesn't account for the Wii, that's mostly the result of Nintendo's own market strategy, but Sony ****ed up.

ONe could argue it was just ahead of its time. Which technically was a bad thing in hindsight. Though MGS4 was excellent (and I hated that series up to that point) it didn't even come close to utilizing what the system is really capable of. The devs still don't really know how to program for it, which is why most everything is just a port from the 360 and PC.

Doesn't mean it is a bad system. Just not what it should be at this point.

EDIT

Dumping PS2 support might have actually helped. I thought MS was crazy when they dropped the original XBOX but it paid off in the long run.

Someone should really let them know that Second Life came out years ago, and that without crazy perverts and furries to laugh at, there's not much to do.

What basically happened was that Microsoft saw what Sony did last generation (get out first, build a huge game library, and coast) and tried to replicate it, while Sony ran off and tried to reinvent the wheel. Multiplatform games aren't going to be breaking the BluRay barrier, and almost all of their choice exclusives have gone multi. The Xbox was a better system than the PS2 in terms of hardware, but it never had a chance because Sony had more games, lower prices, and a huge head start.

All you have to do to recap this generation is flip the names.

Wish I could play you. Might have to buy a 360 just for that purpose. I love a good Street Fighter challenge.

Ryu is my main character but i've also mastered Wolverine, Spider Man, Sakura, and Dan.

Agreed, but there is a place for both systems in every home, in my opinion.

That's probably the best description of the 360/PS3 deal that I've seen.

You could be right. But, the only reason that I would buy one now would be the blu-ray. I have two 360's (one red ringed, so bought one with a bigger HDD) & a Wii. I used to be a big PS person, but I just don't see the use in buying one other than to watch movies....and I'm not redoing my DVD collection in blu-ray.

The only reason for me to purchase a 360 is a handful of 360 exclusives, and the XBLA.

Oh, I guess that's what you get when a BUSINESS COMPUTER company makes games.

Have fun playing dress-up, girls.
A PS3 fanboy trying to throw originality smack? Oh, that is hilarious. Didn't I see a commercial a month or two ago for some game that looks very much like a Halo ripoff?

But, at least you would buy it for gaming purposes and not to watch movies.

Heh, you know what. I am kind of liking being able to watch Netflix instants on my 360. I mean, yeah, I had the ability to hook up the laptop to the tv via VGA and have done it a few times. But watching instants though the 360 is much, much easier.
