Pioli and the players...

Just a question...

I think Pioli has been doing a fantastic job and I know he's hella busy... but shouldnt he be in some contact with his new players? I'm in no way justifying the expected crying on LJ's part, and I understand where TG is coming from, but I was a little supprised to hear that the new GM hasnt even spoken to the 2 biggest stars on the team. Couldnt a little of this have been avoided by a little ego stroking and "hey we've got big plans for you lets get to know each other" talk?

Just been bothering me a bit.

Pioli took one look at a 2-14 team and thought, "I won't kill them all right away"

they should be thankful they are still alive

losers don't deserve shit

I think Pioli is going to get to know all of the players eventually. I'm sure the intro's will be done at the next team gathering. I'm sure it would be much easier to talk to players all together than it is to give them all a ring on the telephone.

Doesn't Peyton workout in Indy? Would seem that if Tony didn't spend all of his time on the offseason away from Arrowhead he'd probably have time to talk to his new boss. Same with any other player.Pioli doesn't pander to individual players like did. He'll be trying to build a team. Besides Holy Pioli doesn't bow to Tony G. Come on Tony kiss the ring!

You must learn to let him go. LJ and Rat = No Go / Goodbye.

oddly enough... you can't really tell how good a football player is by talking to them... usually, you want to see them play football either live or on tape.

Also, I think Scott knows what type of player TG is...

True also.

I think this team needs a nice dose of give a Sh-t.

Based on accounts in previous articles about Pioli, he's not the kind of guy who separates himself from the players, either. I read somewhere about how he likes to workout with them, etc. As he is a former player, that doesn't surprise me. But this does. I would have expected him to reach out to a few key veterans, at least. Hmmm. I mean Gonzo and Waters, I guess.

So ... what does it mean? I think Pioli is pissed off. I think he's seen enough tape in sufficient detail to go, "Mama Mia! These-a guys-a are a bunch-a tools-a." Plus, after learning about LJ's and Gonzos mid-season, locker room antics, he's using the time to find trade partners instead of schmoozing.

FAX
Good point.
Seems like when I ask a question there is always plenty of opposition and very little validation with a different perspective so, thanks!

Well, I'm talking about the Herm thing mostly. I think he took his time and got all the info he could. The rest of it we will hopefully know soon.

I have a feeling he's more interested in laying the ground work to be able to give Tony and everyone else a big ring... for their finger... than he is worrying about doing something the new coach will be the person to do when he gets here. As big a star as Tony is I doubt Pioli is too concerned with stroking him considering his other, more immediate needs.

On ChiefsPlanet? You must be thinking of another board.

FTR even though I'm not upset by Pioli and Gonzo not talking yet, I don't think it would be a bad idea.
